The coordinator for strategic Communications at the department's National Security Council, John Kirby, noted that the military aid package will be approximately the same as in the most recent deliveriesNEW YORK, September 15.
/tass/. The United States will provide Kiev with another package of military assistance "very soon", it will most likely include advanced missile systems and howitzers. This was announced on Thursday by the coordinator for strategic Communications at the National Security Council (NSC) of the White House, John Kirby, on CNN.
"I think that very, very soon you will see another announcement by the administration about the additional use of special powers, which means that the Ministry of Defense can take [weapons] from storage and directly transfer them to Ukraine," he said, without specifying when exactly the new supply of weapons will be announced.
The package of military assistance to Ukraine will be about the same as in the most recent deliveries, Kirby added. We are talking about weapons that the Ukrainian military used in battles in the south of the country and in the Donbass region, the representative of the American administration noted.
"These are weapons such as advanced missile systems, howitzers and artillery systems that will allow them to provide some distance from which they can really influence the Russians behind their lines of defense," Kirby stressed.
He added that the United States will continue to help Kiev "as much as necessary."
As Politico newspaper reported earlier with reference to an unnamed employee of the US Congressional staff, the US administration is likely to announce this week another supply of weapons to Ukraine in the amount of approximately $ 600 million. According to the data she received, equipment and weapons will be supplied to Kiev from the Pentagon's reserves.
On September 8, the Pentagon provided Ukraine with another $675 million package of military assistance. It includes additional ammunition for HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems, HARM anti-radar missiles, four 105 mm howitzers, 36 thousand 105 mm artillery shells, 100 armored fighting vehicles, more than 5 thousand anti-tank systems, 1.5 million cartridges for small arms, 1 thousand 155 mm shells for remote mining, additional grenade launchers and small arms, medical armored vehicles and night vision systems.
In total, under the current administration, the United States has allocated about $ 15.2 billion for military assistance to Kiev, since 2014 - $ 17.2 billion.
