Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko said that by 2025 at least 100 billion rubles will be allocated to support scientific institutes and state-owned companies engaged in the development of quantum technologies.
As part of the meeting on the development of quantum technologies in Russia, the implementation of plans for the development of quantum computing was discussed, according to which quantum computers ranging in size from 50 to 100 qubits and quantum communication networks with a total length of at least 7 thousand kilometers will be created in the Russian Federation.
According to Gennady Krasnikov, Academician, Chairman of the Scientific Council of the Russian Academy of Sciences "Quantum Technologies", Director General of JSC "NIIME", "quantum technologies are designed to provide Russia with technological independence and leadership. Having achieved superiority in this direction, we will be able to bring many areas of the economy to a qualitatively new level. This applies to medicine, security, logistics and many other industries. We will be able to conduct full-fledged modeling of arbitrary quantum systems, we will have new opportunities for creating materials, modeling a wide range of biological, social and economic processes."
