Yerevan. September 14th. INTERFAX - Russia and the CSTO are Armenia's allies, Prime Minister of the Republic Nikol Pashinyan said.
"Our ally is Russia and the CSTO. The key article 4 of the CSTO Treaty states: "If one of the participating States is subjected to aggression by any State or group of States, it will be considered as aggression against all States Parties to this Treaty." And we turned to the CSTO. The process has been launched, which should receive its decision," Pashinyan said, answering questions from deputies in parliament on Wednesday.
According to him, at the meeting of the Collective Security Council of the CSTO on Tuesday, despite the fact that the delimitation and demarcation of the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan has not been carried out, "our partners made assessments that the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan invaded the sovereign territory of Armenia."
"These statements should not remain without consequences. Of course, we do not consider military intervention (CSTO - IF) as the only scenario, since there are political and diplomatic options. We also appealed to Russia for military support on the basis of the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance between Russia and Armenia," Pashinyan said.
He noted that Armenia has also appealed to its Western partners, "and with their assistance, the issue is on the agenda of the UN Security Council for discussion."
