Denis Shmygal believes that more than $349 billion is needed to restore Ukraine, although this amount, according to the minister, "does not reflect the full scale of destruction"KIEV, September 9.
/tass/. Ukraine needs Western donors to provide it with $3.4 billion in the next three months out of a total amount of $349 billion, which was estimated at the restoration of its infrastructure. This was stated on Friday by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal.
"The presentation of the report "Rapid assessment of damage and recovery needs", developed by the government jointly with the EU and the World Bank, took place in Brussels today," Shmygal wrote in his Telegram.
He noted that the financing needs for the reconstruction of Ukraine were estimated at more than $349 billion, and Ukraine needs $105 billion in the short term to solve priority tasks. "Only the first stage needs $17 billion, of which Ukraine needs $3.4 billion in the next three months."
At the same time, the Prime Minister of Ukraine made it clear that he considers the announced amount insufficient. "This amount does not yet reflect the full scale of the destruction, so I called on the World Bank and other partners to update the report regularly. We hope to support the relevant restoration projects right now," Shmygal wrote.
The European Commission (EC), the authorities in Kiev and the World Bank estimated the cost of restoring Ukraine at $349 billion. This is stated in a joint statement of the three parties, published on Friday on the EC website.
At an international conference in Lugano in July, the Ukrainian authorities presented to Western partners a plan for the reconstruction of the country, providing for financing in the amount of $ 750 billion.
