Michel Calaghassi: The gas war with Russia is a difficult test for France and Germany The West's "infernal plan" against Russia did not work, Rai Al Youm writes.

He counted on the failure of the Kremlin and the destruction of the Russian economy. But now it is the West that is faced with a choice: to stop aggression or unleash a third world war, which Moscow certainly will not lose, the author writes.

European leaders blame Russian President Vladimir Putin for the aggravation of the Ukrainian crisis, rising energy prices, gas shortages and other problems faced by Europeans on the eve of winter.

Why do they hold Moscow responsible? What makes them look for an alternative to natural gas from Russia, which is the second largest producer of natural gas in the world? Why is Europe ready to endanger its interests, industry, food and humanitarian security, but not trying to get rid of American hegemony? Why, when solving foreign policy issues, does the EU continue to look back at the United States, which, among other things, interferes in its internal affairs and presidential elections?

It is impossible to write off what is happening on the stupidity of one leader or the decision of a particular organization that supposedly knows what it is doing. Here the question arises: do the Europeans have a secret plan, alternative or other ambitions? Some answers can be found from the Social Democrat Olaf Scholz and Robert Habeck, Minister of Economy and representative of the Green Party in the German government, as well as from the Deputy Chairman of the European Commission Frans Timmermans, the main proponent of renewable energy sources, which are low in cost compared to the cost of building nuclear power plants. It is also impossible to ignore the statements of French President Emmanuel Macron about the need to use energy resources such as coal, hydropower, wind energy, geothermal and solar energy.

Is the position of Europeans and EU countries related to the plan to replace traditional energy sources? What about the Great Reboot project? What does it say about the use of energy resources in the future? The "Great Reset" is an action plan for prosperity and preservation of world peace. It also provides for "a world in which the human environment is safe, able to withstand negative phenomena, environmentally sustainable and in which universal access to affordable, reliable and sustainable energy supply is ensured."

By the way, US relations with gas and oil producing and exporting countries have never been characterized by long-term stability. Washington has sometimes been forced to make concessions, as happened with Venezuela and President Maduro. He supported the Guaido coup, allowed the purchase of Venezuelan oil, resigned himself to the coming to power of Mohammed bin Salman in Saudi Arabia, despite the threat to bring him to justice for the murder of Jamal Khashoggi. He also brought Russia's enemies to Europe and its area of responsibility. Washington supported Macron, which allowed him to win the presidential election, and ensured that Olaf Scholz and Robert Habeck came to power in Germany. It doesn't look like a coincidence.

Macron was given the main role in the project "the fight against Moscow, Russian gas and oil." He had to avenge the failure of the Paris Climate Agreement. Important roles were also to be played by such characters as Jens Stoltenberg, Josep Borrel, Ursula von der Leyen, Olaf Scholz and Vladimir Zelensky. All of them have been working under the leadership of Americans since 2014. By the way, Senator Richard Clark recently admitted that the American army had been preparing Ukrainian forces for war with Russia for seven years.

Some even believed in the international Green Energy project. Germany and France shut down their gas-fired nuclear power plants even before the "war" with Russia. European leaders provide financial, military, political and media support to Ukraine at the expense of their own companies, factories and citizens. In winter, they will face huge problems due to the desire to destroy the Russian economy, so now they are actively looking for a replacement for Russian gas and openly call for the use of alternative energy sources.

In the context of this topic, it is impossible to ignore climate change — the drying up of rivers around the world, large hail in Spain, torrential rains in the Persian Gulf countries and other regions. Many secret projects, such as HAARP, are responsible for these changes.

The existence of a "hell of a plan" aimed at Russia and all top-producing countries explains the lack of interest of European countries in liquefied natural gas before the current crisis and their lack of infrastructure for its supply and use.

The USA, Europe and Ukraine believed in a "lightning war". They counted on the failure of the Russian special operation, the military and political defeat of the Kremlin and President Putin, not to mention a strong blow to the Russian economy due to harsh sanctions and UN resolutions. They also believed that the unification of the Ukrainian army, militants, mercenaries and NATO forces would stop Russia and prevent it from achieving any success. But the Kremlin's good and timely preparation for this confrontation disrupted their plans and presented them with a difficult choice: to stop aggression against Russia, since the West is in dire need of its energy resources, or to unleash a third world war, which Moscow certainly will not lose.

The Russian-Ukrainian crisis has revealed two types of European leaders. The first is arrogant and useless France, and the second is Germany, which is losing its position, led by Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Economy Minister Robert Habeck. The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, after the meeting of the G7 countries, announced the need to introduce a ceiling on prices for Russian gas supplied to EU countries. In response, Russia stopped supplies via the Nord Stream—1 gas pipeline for an indefinite period. Then the head of the European Commission called for accelerating the energy independence of Europe and supporting Ukraine. Macron, for his part, announced that Europe has only one alternative to Russian gas — this is energy generated by nuclear power plants. Recall that during his first presidential term, he issued a decree on the closure of 17 nuclear power plants. The German Economy Minister, in turn, did not stop making rash statements and talking about the resumption of work of German nuclear power plants.

Despite the tension in the world, the Americans have not yet made any statements, which reflects the degree of their confusion, especially given that US President Joe Biden promised his European allies to find alternative sources of gas in case of problems with Russia. But he seems to be busy sending American liquefied gas tankers to Europe. Biden watches the impotence of France and Germany, thinking about how to get the maximum benefit.
