They will come in the form of a soft loan against the €9 billion promised in June.BRUSSELS, September 9.
/tass/. The EU Council approved the allocation of €5 billion of macro-financial assistance to Ukraine in the form of a soft loan against the €9 billion promised in June. This was reported to journalists on Friday by a European source in Brussels.
"The Council has decided to allocate €5 billion in macro-financial assistance to Ukraine," he said.
The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said earlier this week that the EU has already provided Ukraine with military, economic and financial assistance at the level of €10 billion since the beginning of this year, not counting supplies and assistance at the bilateral level of individual European countries. In June, at the EU summit, a political decision was made to allocate another €9 billion to Kiev, of which €1 billion has been transferred so far, and now the European Commission has submitted to the EU Council for discussion the allocation of another €5 billion of macro-financial assistance to Ukraine in the form of a soft loan.
