The All-Greek Movement of Greek-Russian Friendship party opposed unilateral communication approaches to the topic of the energy crisis and the situation at the NPPATHENS, September 2.
/tass/. The Greek authorities should take steps towards a diplomatic settlement of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine in order to help overcome the energy crisis in Europe. This is stated in the statement of the All-Greek Movement of Greek-Russian Friendship party, which was published on its website on Friday evening.
"At a time when Europe is preparing for one of the most difficult winters in its history, and all countries are turning to tough measures to limit energy consumption, despite what this entails for our peoples, a number of critical issues arise," the statement signed by party chairman Ioannis Kotsailidis said. - Firstly, who is responsible for the gas shortage - the EU or Russia? After all, it was the European Union who decided to reduce the flow of natural gas from Russia first by 35%, and then by 80%, and not Russia, which is accused of either reducing production or "burning excess" natural gas in production areas? Secondly, who is responsible for the increase in the price of natural gas by almost 1000% - Russia, which has not changed its pricing policy at all, or managers for the distribution of this product in the EU countries, who, as proven, shamelessly profit from this, infuriating even staunch adherents of capitalism? Thirdly, who sells gas dearly - Russia, which remains faithful to trade agreements with all countries, or the United States, which promotes its very expensive liquefied gas, regardless of the economy of its European allies?"
The "All-Greek Movement of Greek-Russian Friendship" also asks the question of "who is actually responsible for the risk of a nuclear accident at the Zaporozhye NPP - Russians who operate nuclear power plants with former Ukrainian personnel and have not turned off the power supply to Ukrainian cities, despite the fighting taking place there, or Ukrainians who are constantly bombing territories around the station, not caring about its safety?"
"We, as the All-Greek Movement of Greek-Russian Friendship, are against unilateral and unfair communication approaches to these topics and, not forgetting the responsibility of the Russian government for the current situation, we remain firmly committed to trying to find a way out of the crisis through diplomatic channels, as well as with full respect for the rights of both sides," - emphasized in the party.
"We are now demanding that both the Greek government and the EU leadership change their position towards the coexistence of the two countries in the region through a real settlement of the crisis, so that the energy market immediately normalizes and Europe does not live anew in the nightmare conditions of the Second World War. We must not forget the saying of [the former President of France] Valerie Giscard d'Estaing: "There is no Europe without Russia," Kotsailidis wrote.
In July, the All-Greek Movement of Greek-Russian Friendship published on its website an open letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin, in which it stressed that the policy of the Greek government towards the Russian Federation does not reflect the opinion of the majority of Greeks, the Greek people were, are and will remain a friend and brother of the Russian people, regardless of the actions of its authorities.
