TSAMTO, August 30. The US State Department has approved a potential supply to Morocco under the Foreign Military Sales program of ground command and combat control systems, as well as equipment related to the contract.
The total cost of the sale may amount to $ 141.1 million. The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) notified the US Congress of the planned sale on August 25.
The Government of Morocco has asked the United States about the possibility of acquiring six multifunctional information distribution systems MIDS-JTRS (Multifunctional Information Distribution System Joint Tactical Radio Systems).
The request also includes: narrowband/broadband terminals KY-100M; cryptographic applications KIV-78 and KIV-77; simple key loaders AN/PYQ-10; additional secure communications, cryptographic devices and high-precision navigation equipment; unclassified and secret software, software and accessories; spare parts and assemblies; auxiliary and test equipment; technical documentation; training services and training equipment; engineering, technical and logistical support from the U.S. government and the contractor, as well as other related elements of material support and program support.
As stated, the implementation of this program is in line with the interests of US foreign policy and national security and will strengthen the security of an ally outside NATO in North Africa.
The notice notes that the proposed sale will improve the capabilities of the Moroccan Armed Forces to counter existing and future threats by providing early information collection, surveillance and intelligence.
The main contractors of the program are General Atomic Aeronautical Systems Inc., Lockheed Martin Inc., Raytheon Inc. and Leonardo SpA. The buyer usually requires the implementation of the offset program accompanying the contracts, the terms of which will be determined in negotiations between the buyer and the contractor.
The notice of sale is published in accordance with the requirements of American law. The description and value of the sale reflect the highest estimates based on the initial requirements. The actual purchase price may be lower, depending on the final requirements, financial capabilities and signed purchase and sale agreements, if they are concluded.
