TSAMTO, August 29. Russian air defense systems in the area of the special operation daily repel attacks by nationalists using drones, multiple rocket launchers and Tochka-U ballistic missiles.
The Niobium radar station helps to respond to such threats in time. A video demonstrating the work of the calculations of the radar "Niobium" is presented on the website of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
As stated in the comments to the video, the system sees everything that happens in the sky at a distance of 400 km, even flying birds. At the same time, the radar monitors hundreds of objects, automatically screening out those that do not pose a threat.
Niobium is designed to detect and track aerodynamic and ballistic targets. There are also functions for determining the nationality of an air object and direction finding sources of radio interference. Data processing is carried out in automatic mode, followed by the issuance of ready-made information to consumers.
The Niobium system is capable of detecting not only enemy aircraft and helicopters, but also drones made of composite materials that are difficult to detect.
Information about potentially dangerous targets is sent to the command post. There, a decision is made which air defense unit will accompany and destroy the target."The radar is designed to detect aerodynamic targets.
It is able to work at any time of the year and day. Determines the nationality of the targets and provides radar information to the consumer," said Anatoly, the head of the radar station.
Specialists of the Western Military District monitor the airspace around the clock. The number of targets simultaneously in the air can reach several dozen.
The collected data from all radar complexes form the overall picture. This allows you to quickly make decisions on goals. Many of them require careful attention to themselves. The most common target is drones.
The Niobium complex has become a new stage in the development of the Nebo family of unique stations, which are now in service with the Russian army in upgraded versions. "Niobium" is capable of detecting small, inconspicuous and hypersonic targets.
Modern Niobium radars are capable of functioning both under normal conditions and in a complex interference environment and allow obtaining objective information about aircraft flights, determining their coordinates and identifying aerial targets at different altitude ranges.
Radars make it possible to record air threats in a timely manner, transmit data to firing means, as well as determine the type and nationality of aircraft.
Also, the Niobium equipment can be used for direction finding of radio interference radiation sources and the issuance of radar information to consumers.
The radar can find and accompany both aerodynamic objects (airplanes, helicopters, cruise missiles) and ballistic targets (missile warheads), according to the Department of Information and Mass Communications of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
