TSAMTO, August 29. The 55th meeting of the Coordinating Committee on Air Defense under the Council of Defense Ministers of the CIS member States was held in the city of Cholpon-Ata (Kyrgyzstan).
The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Defense of the Kyrgyz Republic, Major General Akylbek Ibrayev. Addressing the participants of the meeting, he noted the effectiveness of the CIS Joint Air Defense System, and also informed about the creation of a Joint regional air Defense system of the Russian Federation and the Kyrgyz Republic.
The main topic of the anniversary meeting of the Committee, proposed by the Secretary of the Council of Ministers of Defense of the CIS member States, Major General Yuri Dashkin, was the adaptation of the CIS Unified Air Defense System to solving the tasks of aerospace defense.
"This year marks 5 years since the beginning of the implementation of the Main Directions for the adaptation of the unified air defense system of the CIS member states to solving the tasks of aerospace defense. Reaching this milestone gives us a reason today to talk in detail about the implementation of this large–scale project, designed until 2035," he said.
Major General Yuri Dashkin also gave a brief assessment of the military-political situation developing on the external borders of the Commonwealth, brought the key installations of the Council of Defense Ministers and put forward a number of initiatives to improve the activities of the Coordinating Committee on Air Defense.
Colonel Kilychbek Aidaraliev, Commander of the Air Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of the Kyrgyz Republic, Colonel Garik Movsesian, Head of the Air Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia, Colonel Garik Movsesian, and Commander of the Air Force and Air Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus spoke on the state of the national segments of the CIS Unified Air Defense System and their adaptation to the tasks of aerospace defense Major General Igor Golub.
Commander-in-Chief of the Air Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Lieutenant General of Aviation Nurlan Ormanbetov summed up the results of the Joint Computer Command and Staff Exercise of the CIS Joint Air Defense System "Regional Security-2022" and made a number of proposals to improve the methodology of its conduct.
Deputy Chairman of the Coordinating Committee on Air Defense at the CIS CFR, Head of Armament – Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Aerospace Forces of the Russian Federation for Armament, Colonel-General Yuri Grekhov summarized the experience of conducting joint exercises with live firing of troops (forces) of the CIS Air Defense OS "Combat Commonwealth" and told about the organization of the next exercise in 2023.
At the suggestion of the CIS CFR Secretariat, for the first time, a meeting of the Committee was held jointly with the Coordination Meeting on the Use of Unmanned Aircraft and countering Unmanned Aerial Vehicles.
During the joint meeting, the main trends in the development of unmanned military aviation were considered, and a wide exchange of experience in the use of unmanned aerial vehicles in combat conditions took place.
Reports were made by: Deputy Head of the Department – Head of the Group of the Unmanned Aviation Department of the Main Command of the Aerospace Forces Colonel Anton Leshkov, Head of the Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Department of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia Colonel Artak Asatryan, Head of the Department of Application and Development of Unmanned Aircraft Complexes of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus Colonel Mikhail Bryansky and Head of the Military unit 83101 of the Armed Forces Colonel Igor Galynin of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Their reports served as the necessary information basis for the next day, August 24, at the Edelweiss training ground (Balykchy), an educational and methodological gathering of air defense commanders-in-chief (commanders) devoted to practical aspects of countering unmanned aerial vehicles.
The next meeting of the Coordinating Committee on Air Defense under the Council of Defense Ministers of the CIS member States is scheduled for April 2023 in the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Department of Information and Mass Communications of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reports.
