Footage of the combat work of the calculations of anti-tank missile systems (ATGM) "Kornet" of the Western Military District on the strongholds of the armed formations of Ukraine (VFU) during the special operation to protect Donbass was shown by the Russian Defense Ministry on Monday, August 29.
Calculations of the ATGM "Kornet" are used to fight tanks and armored personnel carriers of Ukrainian nationalists. They provide cover by occupying firing positions in key areas. Anti-tankers reflect counterattacks of units using armored vehicles.
The Kornet complexes advanced on a combat mission near the front edge of the enemy's defense. The task of the mobile group is to defeat a platoon strongpoint in the forest. Artillery crews used the tactics of nomadic guns. To do this, they used mobile high-speed pickups. This allows you to move almost noiselessly to a point, take positions, carry out an accurate controlled shot in a matter of minutes and go into hiding.
During the battle, according to the coordinates obtained, calculations of anti-tank missile systems destroyed VFU firing positions, armored objects, long-term firing points and other engineering structures.
On August 10, Izvestia correspondent Rodion Severyanov showed footage of the T-72 tank of the 1st Slavic Brigade of the 1st Corps of the People's Militia of the Donetsk People's Republic on the positions of the VFU near Avdiivka. It is from there that Donetsk is being shelled.
Russia continues the special operation to protect Donbass, which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24. A few days earlier, the situation in the region had significantly worsened due to shelling by the Ukrainian military. The authorities of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics (DPR) announced the evacuation of residents to the Russian Federation, and also appealed to Moscow for help. On February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree recognizing the independence of the DPR and the LPR.
