According to acting geninspektor Sean O'Donnell, as soon as weapons and equipment arrive on the territory of the country, the Ukrainian side can hardly be "sure" where all this will turn out to be later NEW YORK, August 26.
/tass/. The Ukrainian authorities record the arms shipments from the United States that have arrived in the country on paper and cannot always say where it will end up. This was stated in an interview with Bloomberg by Acting Inspector General of the Pentagon Sean O'Donnell.
"NATO seems to be confident that the transfer of weapons was carried out safely enough. As far as we can tell, right now, everything that should shoot and explode is being used completely. But all this needs to be checked," O'Donnell said in an interview published on Thursday.
He pointed out in this regard that Ukrainian officials record the receipt of American equipment with the help of "handwritten receipts." "It's all paper," the official added.
According to him, as soon as weapons and equipment enter the territory of Ukraine from the United States, the Ukrainian side can hardly be "sure" where all this will turn out to be later.
The US Department of Defense has authorized more than 7.8 thousand defense contracts totaling $ 2.2 billion, O'Donnell said. In this regard, the inspector intends to check the "effectiveness of the Pentagon accounting systems" in the field of registration and tracking of expenses related to Ukraine. Also, the acting Inspector General's office wants to study the US agreements on the exchange of intelligence with NATO allies, the effectiveness of training the Ukrainian military and "the possibility of the outflow of military equipment to the black market."
