Germany will focus on allies, the country's chancellor BERLIN said on August 25.
/tass/. Germany will never act alone in supporting Ukraine and will focus on allies. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said this on Thursday, answering questions from citizens in Magdeburg (federal state of Saxony-Anhalt).
Scholz explained that after the start of the special military operation of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, Germany abandoned the long-standing principle of not supplying weapons to conflict zones. "And I also said that we will provide what we have in warehouses. And we will see what can be delivered with the help of our industry, but we will never go alone, but we will always focus on what our allies are doing," the head of government stated.
That is why, according to the Chancellor, Germany supplied Kiev with anti-tank weapons, ammunition and air defense systems. "That is why we have now also supplied very modern and efficient equipment and supply other items that will be useful in the war in eastern Ukraine," Scholz said. "Our goal in everything we do is to support Ukraine, this will prevent the escalation of the war, which will then result in a war, which will not be between Russia and Ukraine, but will be a completely different war," Scholz said.
"And you can be sure that we will always have enough balance, clarity and firmness to make decisions based on this principle," he concluded.
