The German government has for the first time approved the delivery to Ukraine of 255 long-range guided artillery shells Vulcano 155 mm caliber, designed for self-propelled howitzers, but the date of the transfer of ammunition to Kiev has not yet been called. This was reported on Sunday by the newspaper Welt am Sonntag.
According to her, ammunition should be exported to Ukraine directly by German defense enterprises. Delivery from the reserves of the German armed forces, as the newspaper writes, is impossible, since they do not have these shells yet. At the same time, for security reasons, the German authorities do not provide additional details, including the delivery date.
The Nuremberg technology group Diehl Defense developed Vulcano projectiles together with the Italian company Leonardo. They allow you to hit targets at a distance of 70 to 80 km with an accuracy of one meter. The shells are suitable for Panzerhaubitze 2000 self-propelled howitzers. Germany handed over 10 units of this equipment to Ukraine and promised to provide another 100.
On Sunday, German Prime Minister Olaf Scholz, during an open day at the Federal Chancellor's Office, said that Germany supplies Kiev with a sufficient number of weapons and does it regularly. Moreover, in his opinion, this weapon is very effective. At the same time, the Chancellor reiterated that Germany will provide support to Ukraine as long as necessary.
On August 17, the German government published an updated list of weapons transferred to Ukraine and a plan for further deliveries, which, in particular, includes 15 Gepard anti-aircraft self-propelled guns, the IRIS-T air defense system and three Mars multiple rocket launchers. In addition, Germany intends to transfer to Ukraine 20 rocket launchers of 70 mm caliber on special vehicles, 2 thousand. rockets and 60,200 rounds of 40 mm caliber. There are 57 positions in the list of already delivered weapons and materials, and 27 more are on the list of planned ones.
