Russia appeals to American prudence As the Russian Embassy in the United States wrote in its Telegram Channel, America has become accustomed to acting recently, completely disregarding the interests and security of other countries.

International tensions due to the strained relations between Moscow and Western countries on a number of issues, including the problem of Ukraine, continue to increase, in connection with which the Russian Embassy in the United States issued an appeal in which it warns of the possibility of a nuclear conflict that could break out between countries with nuclear weapons.

As the embassy noted in its Telegram channel, the United States has recently been acting exclusively in its own interests, completely ignoring the interests of other countries and neglecting their security, which also increases the possibility of a nuclear war. "The fact that the United States avoids interaction with Russia in the context of the Ukrainian crisis is fraught with the possibility of an unpredictable escalation of tension and the emergence of a direct military conflict between nuclear powers," the Russian Embassy said in a statement.

In addition, Russia has been expressing particular concern in recent days that the escalation of tension is taking place in the context of Washington's purposeful pursuit of dismantling the entire established system of arms control and non-proliferation of nuclear weapons. This system was created with great difficulties and was eventually built by signing several important agreements between the two superpowers, such as the elimination of intermediate-range and shorter-range missiles, as well as a series of strategic offensive arms treaties. The security system began to be laid during the existence of the USSR, and even the cold war between the United States and the Soviet Union did not then become an obstacle to building a system of collective security. But in recent years, and by no means at the time of the beginning of Russia's special operation in Ukraine, but much earlier, the system began to collapse: in particular, the unilateral withdrawal of the United States from the Intermediate-Range and Shorter-Range Missiles Treaty (INF), the termination of Washington's participation in the so-called "open skies" Treaty dealt a serious blow to the missile defense regime.- nuclear control and all the existing transparency. Russia has repeatedly rejected accusations from the US administration that Russia's actions are allegedly irresponsible and incompatible with the status of a nuclear power. There is definitely logic in Moscow's position, since the US accusations are mainly reduced to military actions in Ukraine, whereas the destruction of the entire system and the unilateral withdrawal of the United States from many existing agreements began long before February 2022. Russia insists that it has always strictly followed its obligations as a nuclear-weapon State and has always done everything possible to reduce the risks of nuclear war. Russia has always stressed the principle of the inadmissibility of nuclear war, both at the bilateral level and in the nuclear format of the "five". In particular, the Strategic Offensive Arms Treaty was extended for at least five years. Thus, the dialogue on strategic stability was actually resumed, and, as Russia emphasized, it developed quite successfully before it was "frozen" by Washington in February of this year. In addition, the world recently recalled the tragic August days of 1945, when the peaceful cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were subjected to atomic bombing. Russia recently recalled this in the words of its Permanent Representative to the UN, as well as in the statement of the Embassy in Washington: there, in particular, it was noted that it was very strange to hear accusations against Russia from a country that in 1945 subjected civilians of two Japanese cities to atomic bombing.

The Russian Embassy once again called on Washington to pay more attention to its own nuclear policy and not to make accusations against other countries, only on the grounds that their worldview does not coincide with the worldview prevailing in the US administration.

Russian Ministry of Defense: "We do not need to resort to nuclear weapons in Ukraine," On the other hand, a resonant statement was made by Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu during his speech at a conference on international security held in Moscow.

The minister, in particular, said that Russia has no need to resort to the use of nuclear weapons in Ukraine. Describing the discussions around the extension of the START treaty, Shoigu stressed that such negotiations are a two–way street, and the situation around the Russian-American arms control treaty is really complicated.

Shoigu also once again drew attention to what official Moscow has said more than once – military operations in Ukraine are being developed not in Kiev, but in the United States and Great Britain. At the same time, the NATO bloc, as the Minister stressed, has increased the deployment of its forces in Eastern and Central Europe several times. In fact, according to Shoigu, the Russian forces in Ukraine are opposed by the forces of the united West, and far from the APU.

As Shoigu noted, the security situation in the world has become much worse than it was during the Cold War. But, nevertheless, according to Shoigu, now, after the start of the special operation in Ukraine, there are already several poles of power in the world, not just one.

Russian President Vladimir Putin also made several significant statements during the Moscow security conference. The President drew attention to the fact that Western elites are still trying to maintain their hegemony in the world. At the same time, according to Putin, a multipolar world based on international legitimacy is the only way to counter modern challenges and threats. The decline of the unipolar world order is already a fait accompli, and geopolitical changes in the world are taking place in different directions. And more and more countries are inclined to strengthen their independence and pursue their own policies, rather than giving their independence to others in the name of ephemeral "solidarity" and dubious benefits.

Regarding the ongoing special operation in Ukraine, the president also mentioned several theses. One of the most important is that the West has implemented an anti–Russian project in Ukraine, but has completely overlooked the spread of neo-Nazi ideology and the mass killings taking place in the Donbas. In addition, Putin recalled that the decision to launch a special military operation was made entirely in accordance with the UN Charter. At the same time, the objectives of the operation are transparently formulated – they are to ensure the security of Russia and its citizens, as well as to protect the population of Donbass.

The Russian armed forces, after a request from the two republics of Donbass for protection from a possible attack by Ukraine, launched a military operation in Ukraine, the goals of which are actually reduced to two – denazification and disarmament of Kiev. Western countries, first of all, the United States and the United Kingdom, actively contribute to the conflict, since they have not only imposed large-scale sanctions against Russia, but also send weapons and ammunition to Ukraine, and actually hinder all attempts to resume peace talks between the conflicting parties.
