Precisely for the reason that no other country has done more on the eve of Russia's brutal invasion of Ukraine to try to prevent a war," the official representative of the American Foreign Ministry claimed.
From his point of view, Washington actively tried to prevent the development of the situation around Ukraine according to the power scenario. "We have interacted not only with our partners and our allies in NATO and Kiev, but also with the Russians - at high levels," Price said. He recalled that "a couple of face-to-face meetings" took place on the eve of Moscow's launch of a special military operation in Ukraine between Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken. In addition, Price focused on the talks between Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov and US First Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman, consultations on the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe and the Russia-NATO Council.
In Price's opinion, all these contacts did not give the desired result, "because President Putin was determined" to implement plans for an operation in Ukraine. According to the American diplomat, only the Russian government is responsible for the fact that hostilities continue in Ukraine. The United States only supplies Ukraine with means of self-defense, protection of sovereignty and independence, Price believes.
In addition, he did not deny that Washington "calls on countries around the world not to interact with the Russian defense industry sector," that is, not to engage in military-technical cooperation with Moscow.
