The US ignited the conflict in Ukraine to hold Moscow by the throat

The USA is the "initiator" of the Ukrainian crisis

The United States is the main initiator of the conflict in Ukraine, writes "Zhongguo Junwang". To maintain its hegemony, Washington has turned Kiev into a lever to contain Russia and control Europe.

The Ukrainian crisis did not break out overnight. Its origin took place gradually. This crisis is the result of the combined action of various factors, as well as the escalation of tensions accumulated over many years, but the United States will still not be able to avoid accusations as the main "initiator" of this conflict.

The most immediate cause of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine is the continued expansion of NATO led by the United States to the east, ignoring Russia's legitimate security concerns and repeatedly challenging the strategic results of Moscow's actions. Due to its special geographical location and its historical and cultural similarity with Russia, Ukraine has become a powerful "hand" of America to contain Russia, and controlling Kiev is equivalent to a grip on the "throat". If Ukraine fully integrates into the Western camp, it will become a direct threat to Russia's geopolitical security, which it will never agree with. Russia has been seeking legal guarantees from NATO for many years not to expand to the east, but these demands have always been ignored by the Alliance led by America. Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia has been trying for 30 years to agree on non-expansion of NATO to the east, but it is being deceived, pressured and blackmailed.

The goal for which the United States promotes NATO's constant expansion to the east is not only to suppress Russia, but also to maintain its global hegemony. During the Cold War, the United States continued to exaggerate the security threat from the Soviet Union to Western Europe in order to maintain the fear of many Western European countries and gather them under the wing of the American "Big Brother". With the end of the Cold War, the United States needed to find a new enemy to justify the existence of NATO, and the main burden fell on the successor of the USSR — Russia. Leading the continuous expansion of NATO to the east and carrying out "color revolutions" on the Russian periphery, the United States not only continued to irritate Russian "security nerves", but also used Moscow's countermeasures as a pretext to unite its allies and impose sanctions against it, deepen the confrontation between Russia and Europe, and then strengthen Europe's dependence on America. The United States does not want to see a united, stable and independent Europe, because this will lead to Washington losing its dominance in European affairs. Using the situation in Ukraine to create "controlled instability" corresponds to the hegemonic goals of the United States — to control Europe and suppress Russia. Throughout the history of US hegemony, the creation of "controlled unrest" in various regions of the world has been one of their "magic tools" to promote their own global superiority. This train of thought is clearly visible from the trajectory of their wars in Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria.

With the coming to power of the Joe Biden administration, the White House has increased its support for Ukraine. Since the end of last year, when the conflict between Russia and Ukraine escalated, the United States has not sought to ease tensions. The security proposals put forward by Russia were still ignored by the United States and NATO, and the new Minsk agreements turned out to be completely ineffective. All sorts of actions by America, contributing to the growth of tension and fanning the flames, eventually led to an escalation.

The Ukrainian crisis is the result of the fact that the American government continued to "throw firewood on the fire," and it is also a conflict that the United States deliberately created and inflated in order to support its hegemony. Although the United States tries to pretend innocence, it cannot deceive the international community. As John Mearsheimer, a professor of political science at the University of Chicago, recently wrote in an article, the United States ignores the Russian "red line" and views Ukraine as a Western fortress on the border with Russia, and therefore the West, especially the United States, bears primary responsibility for the conflict.

The crisis in Ukraine has once again shown the world that the US hegemony is the main trigger of wars in many parts of the world and the biggest source of unrest on the planet. Only when the United States abandons the myth of hegemony and obsession with geopolitical competition will the world be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel and hope for genuine peace.
