On August 16, the Russian Defense Ministry showed footage of the combat work of the calculations of anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM) "Tor-M2" of the Western Military District (ZVO) during a special operation to protect Donbass.
It is noted that the anti-aircraft defense (air defense) systems provide the troops with an ultra-reliable shield against the attack of enemy air objects around the clock.
The Defense Ministry stressed that SAMs can hit almost all types of targets in their range of heights and range. Despite the fact that the SAM is short-range, it is able to detect four dozen targets at once at a distance of more than 30 km. At the same time, it is not necessary to stop for the combat work of the "Toru", since it can shoot on the move.
The head of the Tor-M2 calculation said that the complex automatically detects and captures the most dangerous targets, can destroy several at once. According to him, a few days ago, a combat crew and an anti-aircraft complex hit a Tochka-U ballistic missile of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
"In the dead of night, information was received, high—precision missiles are flying, high-speed, literally in 5 minutes the calculation saw, took on escort and made a decision to defeat an air target," he said.
According to the Ministry of Defense, the missile was flying towards the Russian border. As a result, the "Dot-Y" fell in the middle of the field. The striking elements hit the tail section, the rocket deflected, fell and caught fire.
It is clarified that for the safety of equipment and the safety of the calculation of the position has to be changed several times, since the intelligence of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is a real hunt for complexes. However, the ministry said that the ability to combine the marching and combat modes of operation of the complex reduces the danger to a minimum.
Earlier, on August 8, the Russian Ministry of Defense showed footage of the combat work of the calculations of the Osa air defense system of a separate brigade of the Pacific Fleet marines during a special military operation to protect Donbass.
During the performance of combat missions by anti-aircraft gunners, 115 air targets were destroyed. According to the wreckage found, several of them were identified as Turkish Bayraktar-TB2 drones. UAVs produced by other foreign countries were also neutralized.
Russia continues a special operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass, which President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24. The key goals of the Russian military are denazification and demilitarization of the Kiev regime. Moscow stressed that the strikes are carried out only on military infrastructure.
The situation in the region worsened in mid-February due to shelling by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Since 2014, the Ukrainian authorities have been fighting against residents of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics, who refused to recognize the results of the coup in Ukraine.
