At the final stage, the military personnel of the united group withdrew civilians from the conditionally captured settlement
TASS, August 10. The active phase of the joint Russian-Mongolian military exercises "Selenga-2022" in the western part of Mongolia at the Khovd training ground ended with large-scale live firing, the press service of the Eastern Military District (VVO) reported on Wednesday.
"Russian and Mongolian motorized rifle units on armored personnel carriers under the cover of Mi-24 and Mi-8AMTSh helicopters, barrel artillery, air defense systems, machine-gun anti-tank grenade launchers and mortars liberated the territory in the specified area and destroyed the conditional illegal armed formation, ensuring the protection of the settlement in the mountainous desert area. The covering of the units and the destruction of the enemy's air objects were carried out by calculations of the Pantsir-S anti-aircraft missile and cannon complexes. It should be noted that this is the first use of modern equipment of the air defense forces of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in the entire history of the Russian-Mongolian Selenga exercises," the press service reported.
The crews of Mi-8AMTSh helicopters, in turn, worked out the landing of tactical troops in the rear area of the conditional enemy. The scouts occupied and "cleaned up" the area from conditional sabotage and reconnaissance groups. In addition, experienced pilots evacuated the conditionally wounded to a safe area for medical care. The retreating groups of the conditional enemy were destroyed by the volley fire of mortar units and calculations of 122-mm D-30 howitzers.
At the final stage of the practical action draw, the military personnel of the united group withdrew civilians from the conditionally captured settlement.
"At the end of the practical stage of the live firing exercise, a parade of military equipment involved in the military exercise took place in front of the main tower. In total, about 1,200 servicemen took part in the exercise, about 300 units of combat and special equipment were involved. It should be noted that for the first time during the planning of the exercise, the joint headquarters of the Main Command of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the Joint Strategic Command of the Eastern Military District (VVO) and the Armed Forces of Mongolia developed and put into effect the idea of joint tactical exercises in the mountainous desert area of western Mongolia," the press service reported.
