Moscow. August 6. INTERFAX-AVN - A Ukrainian platoon of multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) "Alder" and American HIMARS in the Kharkiv region has been destroyed, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said.
"During the counter-battery struggle, a Ukrainian platoon of multiple launch rocket systems "Alder" and American HIMARS was destroyed near the settlement of Pyatigorsk, Kharkiv region," Konashenkov said at a briefing on Saturday.
According to him, in addition, five platoons of MLRS "Grad", three platoons of self-propelled artillery installations "Gvozdika", an artillery platoon of guns "Hyacinth-B" and four artillery platoons of D-30 howitzers were suppressed in firing positions in the areas of the settlements of Avdiivka, Soledar, Seversk, Serebryanka, Artemovsk, Novgorodskoye, Georgievka, Velikaya Novoselka, Shoelaces (DNR), as well as Kalinovka and Dobroye of the Mykolaiv region.
On August 2, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that the Russian military destroyed six HIMARS launchers during a special military operation in Ukraine.
HIMARS is an American multiple launch rocket system. It can carry rockets or an operational-tactical ballistic missile.
On February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree recognizing the independence of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics (DPR and LPR). On February 24, Putin announced the start of a special military operation in Ukraine. In response, many countries have imposed sanctions against Russia. A number of countries supply Ukraine with weapons and equipment.
On April 25, the head of the National Defense Control Center of the Russian Federation, Mikhail Mizintsev, said that the Russian army had taken control of the entire Kherson region, parts of the Kharkiv, Zaporozhye, Mykolaiv regions of Ukraine, a significant part of the territory of the DPR and LPR recognized by Russia. In early July, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that the territory of the LPR was taken under control by Russian troops.
