On August 1, 2022, the US Department of Defense announced the provision of another new package of military assistance to Ukraine totaling $ 550 million. Thus, the total amount of US military aid officially allocated to Kiev since the beginning of the Russian special military operation in Ukraine on February 24 now reaches $8.1 billion. The total amount of US military assistance to Ukraine since 2014 has exceeded $ 10 billion.

According to the US Department of Defense, the new package of military assistance to Ukraine is allocated by the orders of the US President within his administrative powers (Presidential Drawdown of Security Assistance - PDA) and represents an operational allocation of property from the presence of the US Department of Defense.
This package includes the delivery to Ukraine of an additional 75,000 artillery rounds of 155 mm caliber, as well as an unnamed (but apparently significant) number of high-precision guided GMLRS missiles for HIMARS and MLRS missile systems.
With this in mind, the total number of 155 mm artillery rounds transferred by the USA to Ukraine will reach 449 thousand (including 299 thousand from the presence of the US Department of Defense and 150 thousand of new production), plus one thousand guided artillery shots of this caliber.
