According to Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmerman, the government should deal with the situation in September and October
BERLIN, July 30. /tass/. Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmerman, chairman of the Bundestag (German Parliament) Defense Committee, believes that the office of the Federal Chancellor of Germany is slowing down the supply of weapons to Ukraine. She expressed this opinion in an interview published on Saturday with the Bayern media group ("Bayern").
"The bottleneck that slows down Germany's military assistance [to Ukraine] is, for some reason, the chancellor's office," Strack-Zimmerman said. "This house is the center of decision-making. That's where the threads converge and [from there] signals are sent," she stressed. At the same time, the head of the Bundestag committee acknowledged that the arms supplies promised to Kiev reach Ukraine. Nevertheless, the German government, according to Strack-Zimmerman, should deal with the situation in September and October.
On Friday, the German Defense Ministry announced that Berlin will send 16 Biber tank bridge-laying trucks to Ukraine. Six units of equipment will be delivered this year, the rest - next year. On June 21, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov notified that his country had received Panzerhaubitze 2000 self-propelled howitzers from Germany ("Panzerhaubitze-2000"). On July 27, it became known that Germany approved the supply of another 100 howitzers.
On June 21, the German government for the first time published a list of weapons transferred to Ukraine and a plan for further deliveries, which includes 30 Gepard, IRIS-T anti-aircraft self-propelled guns, three Mars, 22 trucks and 80 pickups. There are 38 positions in the list of already delivered weapons and materials, 25 more are on the list of planned ones. On July 26, German Defense Minister Kristine Lambrecht said that Germany had delivered to Ukraine the promised multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) of the Mars-II type.
