Moscow. July 24. INTERFAX - Roscosmos plans to place a GLONASS measuring station in Venezuela, the state corporation reported.
"As part of the implementation of the provisions of the Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela on Cooperation in the Exploration and Use of Outer Space for Peaceful Purposes, signed on March 30, 2021 and ratified on June 11, 2022, the Roscosmos State Corporation plans to place a non-request measuring station (BIS) of the GLONASS system on the territory of Venezuela," it says in the message.
Measuring stations are designed to provide high-precision navigation for consumers using Precision Point Positioning technology. BIS is engaged in continuous monitoring of open signals of spacecraft of global navigation satellite systems GLONASS, GPS, Galileo and Beidou in order to measure current navigation parameters, receive navigation messages from satellites and transmit measurement results and navigation data to the processing center in real time.
Earlier it was reported that Roscosmos is negotiating the deployment of GLONASS stations on the territory of Argentina. In addition, stations in South America can be located in Brazil, Venezuela and Paraguay.
