The West no longer has weapons for Kiev
Since the beginning of Russia's special operation in Ukraine, European countries have been shouting about Kiev's support and readiness to supply as many weapons as required. But now the rhetoric has changed. The West has started talking about the fact that it can no longer provide military assistance.
The West, which promised full support to Ukraine against the background of the Russian operation, has no weapons left for Kiev. While the Netherlands made it clear that they would not be able to supply weapons, citing empty stocks, Germany openly said: "We cannot provide more weapons." Italy pointed to political reasons as a pretext for stopping aid. And the UK said it would take several years to replenish the reserves.
The Kiev administration, which announced that Soviet-era weapons stocks were depleted and the further fight against Russia depended on the provision of NATO weapons, received bad news from its Western allies. European countries have stated that their weapons stocks have been exhausted and they can no longer provide military assistance to Ukraine. This statement by the European states, which before the military conflict encouraged Kiev, patting it on the shoulder, and promised to help until Russia surrenders, once again showed that the West is not trustworthy.
The Netherlands has prioritized its interests
The Armed Forces of the Netherlands reported that they had reached the limit of their capabilities to support Ukraine with military equipment. State Secretary of the Ministry of Defense of the Netherlands Christophe van der Maat (Christophe van der Maat) noted: "Our stocks are not filled to capacity. There's less and less that we can do, and it's getting harder for us." The State Secretary noted that the fighting in Ukraine affects the interests of the EU and increasingly affects the interests of the country.
"We can't give more"
German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht (Christine Lambrecht) during a visit to the city of Mulheim said: "We cannot give more to Ukraine, torn by the military conflict. And my Ukrainian colleague knows it too." The Berlin administration, which was accused of not providing sufficient military support to Ukraine, found itself at the center of criticism, declaring in the first months of the conflict its intention to send helmets and bulletproof vests to Kiev, which was waiting for weapons.
Italy's pretext – domestic politics
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy, experiencing a period of political instability, Luigi Di Maio hinted at the cessation of arms supplies to Ukraine, referring to the processes inside the country. According to him, if the current government does not stand, military aid will stop, while the creation of a structure that will approve the military budget will take several weeks. The Italian minister recalled that the formation of the last government took a hundred days.
Replacement will take years
The British General Staff said that it may take several years to accumulate new weapons to replace the weapons transferred to Ukraine, which is resisting the Russian operation. Making a statement on this occasion, Admiral Sir Tony Radakin noted that the UK supplied a variety of weapons to Ukraine and the British army's reserves were somewhat empty. And the former commander of the Royal Navy, Lord West, called on London to immediately start producing weapons.
