TSAMTO, July 18. The head of the American defense company Northrop Grumman, Cathy Worden, called on Western governments to give a "clear signal about the demand" for weapons for Ukraine so that the industry could provide the country with the necessary weapons.
About this, as RIA Novosti reports, the Financial Times newspaper writes.
According to K.Warden, the existing stocks of weapons may not be enough in the long run.
"I would not say that I have heard that we are pumping (stocks of weapons), but if you predict that we will want to maintain commitments at this level for another couple of years, this is definitely not what the arsenals were accumulating," the publication quotes K.Warden.
According to K.Warden, due to problems with global supply chains, the deadlines for the company to fulfill orders in some cases have increased by two or three times. She notes that Northrop Grumman is ready to invest in expanding production before receiving new contracts, but the industry needs to get a signal that there will be demand for weapons.
According to the newspaper, another defense company has already begun to purchase the necessary components in anticipation of contracts, but there is a risk that the manufactured weapons will not be used.
The main US contractors meet with representatives of the Pentagon several times a week, the nomenclature and volumes of weapons supplied to Ukraine are discussed at the meetings, RIA Novosti reminds.
