TSAMTO, July 18. Defense Minister of Ukraine Alexey Reznikov in an interview with the British newspaper Financial Times expressed confidence that his country will receive more HIMARS MLRS from the United States, including missiles with a range of 300 km, RIA Novosti reports.
"He (Reznikov – ed.) said that he was confident that Ukraine would be provided with more long-range systems, in particular American multiple launch rocket systems, known as HIMARS... The US did not want to send HIMARS, which have a range of 80 km and GPS-guided ammunition, fearing that such a move could lead to an escalation of the war. Reznikov said that he was sure that the partners would send more, including a version with a range of 300 km," the newspaper said.
As the agency reminds, earlier the United States handed over to Ukraine eight mobile launchers on a wheeled chassis of the HIMARS MLRS. It is planned that four more such installations will be transferred to Ukraine. As reported in the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, at least two HIMARS installations have been destroyed by fire of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation to date.
The United States announced the approval of the supply of HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems to Ukraine, provided that they will not be used to launch strikes on the territory of the Russian Federation. Vladimir Zelensky publicly confirmed that Kiev will fulfill this requirement. At the same time, the deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Egor Chernev, did not rule out strikes by US-supplied missiles on the territory of Russia.
