Moscow. July 17. INTERFAX - The Russian Defense Ministry on Sunday published a video of the destruction of the American HIMARS multiple rocket launcher system during a special military operation in Ukraine.
Footage of the strike on HIMARS of the Russian Defense Ministry was shown during a briefing by the official representative of the department, Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov.
"In the area of the settlement of Krasnoarmeysk of the Donetsk People's Republic, a high-precision ground-based weapon destroyed a launcher and a transport-loading vehicle of the HIMARS MLRS manufactured by the United States," Konashenkov said.
HIMARS is an American multiple launch rocket system. It can carry rockets or an operational-tactical ballistic missile.
On July 6, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation announced the destruction of two HIMARS launchers on the territory of the DPR by a high-precision missile strike. On July 11, the Russian military announced that Kalibr naval missiles destroyed an armory in the Dnipropetrovsk region, where ammunition was stored, including for HIMARS systems.
On February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree recognizing the independence of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics (DPR and LPR). On February 24, Putin announced the start of a special military operation in Ukraine. In response, many countries have imposed sanctions against Russia. A number of countries supply Ukraine with weapons and equipment.
On April 25, the head of the National Defense Control Center of the Russian Federation, Mikhail Mizintsev, said that the Russian army had taken control of the entire Kherson region, parts of the Kharkiv, Zaporozhye, Mykolaiv regions of Ukraine, a significant part of the territory of the DPR and LPR recognized by Russia.
