Is NATO really an "instrument of peace"?
Rebelión publishes a statement by the State Secretariat of the People's Christian Communities of Spain on the occasion of the NATO summit held in Madrid. The text criticizes the statements of Biden and Stoltenberg, as well as the actions of the United States and NATO in the world.
We, the People's Christian Communities of Spain, want to express the following thoughts about the results of the NATO summit in Madrid, which cause uncertainty and concern for the future of all mankind.
Agreements that were not voted on
If we study the NATO agreements, the agreements that were excluded from the painful referendum on Spain's membership in the organization (held in 1986 — approx. InoSMI) — we are surprised to find some very important agreements: an increasing increase in military spending, a huge increase and deployment of combat battalions, the expansion of the US military presence in six countries, including Spain, the use of Ceuta and Melilla in case of "necessity", an increase in NATO's total spending by 20 billion euros, sending money and heavy weapons to Ukraine or "control of information during conflicts", as if it is no longer controlled in everyday life. In general, there is no money for food, but there is money for murder.
Stoltenberg
The NATO Secretary General shamelessly declares: "We strive to ensure that our Alliance continues to preserve peace, avoid conflicts and protect our people and values." And he says this, knowing that NATO is an instrument of US foreign policy and provoking wars, and the US is a very belligerent country, as evidenced by its bloody invasions of Vietnam, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Syria and Yemen… He knows that there is not a single Latin American state in which, following the Monroe doctrine, Washington has not invaded in the last 150 years.
Self—proclaiming oneself as an organization aimed at peace is an insult to reason and truth. We will believe in the values that Stoltenberg promotes only when the United States turns more than 800 of its military bases around the world into centers of food, peace and harmony.
Statements that the organization avoids conflicts are also very false. Russia would never have entered Ukraine if the United States had not staged a coup there in 2014, or if at least NATO or the United States had demanded the implementation of the Minsk agreements. However, the goal was not to reconcile Moscow and Kiev, but to "provoke a war of geopolitical interests." The head of one state even said: "NATO is barking at the gates of Russia." Therefore, it can be argued that NATO and the United States are not models of peace and conflict resolution, but rather the opposite.
Bergoglio
On the other hand, Pope Francis boldly and responsibly intervened in the conflict. Expressing his intention to solve the problem, he said that the Russian special operation in Ukraine "was probably provoked or inevitable." "We don't see all the drama that is hidden in this conflict. I see an interest in testing and selling weapons. It's very sad, but that's what's at stake," he added. As always, the Pope's statements raised questions from conformists and some representatives of the Catholic Church. But the struggle for truth and sanity now has its price.
Biden
Joe Biden, who is so exalted, said: "An attack on one is an attack on all." How many times could the world utter this phrase to his own country! A criminal turned victim. Now they are trying to appoint enemies of the World. Russia is characterized as a "significant and direct threat", and China as a "systemic challenge", these countries are declared "dangerous", and Iran, Venezuela and Cuba are also included here at the same time… Since when are Venezuela and Cuba dangerous to humanity? Because of unilateral and inhumane US sanctions, there is no money for food in these countries, let alone buying at least a millionth part of the arsenal of the United States. A world in which everything is the opposite.
And they also consider illegal immigration a threat, because it "challenges democratic interests, values and a model of life." That is, the United States is free to rob any country it pleases with its profit-hungry corporations, but when these peoples emigrate in search of a better life to which they have a right, they can be killed, as, for example, recently in Melilla.
This is the model of values and democracy they seek to build!
