Canada has decided to join its allies with plans for space and create a special space unit that will be responsible for operations on earth and space. As stated in the Ministry of Defense, the military appreciated the importance of space troops for the security of the country.
According to the plans of the military command, a special space unit will be formed as part of the Canadian armed forces, which, in addition to the military, will also include civil servants. It will report to the Commander of the Royal Canadian Air Force and be responsible for the creation of space assets for various military missions, including long-range communications, monitoring of naval and ground actions of the military of other countries and pointing weapons at the target. It is also planned to create its own orbital constellation of satellites for tracking the Arctic region.

The Canadian military plans that space-based systems will also play a key role in the upcoming modernization of the joint Canadian-American Aerospace Defense Command of the United States. The program is designed for a long time, for example, the deployment of a new satellite constellation is scheduled for 2032 and this is subject to the availability of funds.
