Russian servicemen of the railway troops of the Central Military District (CVO) in the Luhansk People's Republic (LNR) have begun to assess the damage to the railway bridge destroyed by Ukrainian militants. As Alexander Morozov, a correspondent of Izvestia, told on July 14, military experts are finding out whether the bridge will be suitable for use in the future.
The footage shows how the Russian military is examining the railway track for the presence of explosive devices and damage. After they find the mines left by the militants, they take them out of the road and undermine them.
After that, work begins to assess the damage caused by saboteurs. The Russian military conducts a visual inspection of the damaged areas, the data on which is transmitted to the headquarters, where decisions are made on the restoration of certain areas. Then the damaged areas are dismantled and the deformed structures are replaced with new ones.
"The destroyed railway bridge has a design of reinforced concrete superstructures, which are not subject to further use. They will be dismantled and package-span structures made by the forces of the railway troops will be used. After dismantling, four metal beams will be installed, on which the tracks for passing the train will be mounted," said one of the technical intelligence engineers.
To destroy the bridge, the Ukrainian militants laid one land mine under the rails, the other under the support. As a result of the explosion, the structure was torn apart, the power grid was also damaged, which left two villages without electricity.
During the special operation to protect the Donbass, the railway workers of the Central Military District restored and cleared more than 100 km of railways and three bridges in the liberated territories of the LPR. In the last week alone, they found and deactivated 150 anti-tank mines.
On July 13, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation presented footage of the calculations of multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) "Hurricane" of the Western Military District (ZVO) during a special operation to protect Donbass. The calculations worked on the camouflaged positions of Ukrainian militants using the "carousel" tactics, which ensured the continuity of the shelling and maximum damage to the enemy.
The special operation of the Russian Federation to protect the population of the Luhansk and Donetsk People's Republics continues in Ukraine and in the Donbas, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24. Moscow explained that its tasks include demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine. On April 19, the Russian side announced the beginning of the next stage of the military operation — "the complete liberation of the Donetsk and Lugansk republics."
The situation in the region significantly worsened in mid-February due to shelling by the Ukrainian military. The authorities of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics announced the evacuation of residents to Russia and appealed to Moscow for help. On February 21, the President of the Russian Federation signed a decree recognizing the independence of the DPR and LPR.
