The BRICS countries have an overwhelming advantage over the G7 countries in the three regional arms markets

TSAMTO, July 13. Below are the ratings of the CAMTO of the positions of the BRICS countries in 10 regional markets for the supply of VIVT in the period 2013-2020.

For reference:

According to the volume of exports of VIVT to 10 regions of the world by all suppliers in the period 2013-2020, the places of the regions in terms of their capacity were distributed as follows:

1. Middle East ($209.616 billion)

2. Asia-Pacific region ($207.788 billion)

3. Western Europe ($57,090 billion)

4. North and North-East Africa ($29.624 billion)

5. South America and Mexico ($24.954 billion)

6. North America ($22.790 billion),

7. Countries in the post-Soviet space ($19.291 billion)

8. Eastern Europe ($11.117 billion)

9. Tropical Africa with South Africa ($8,364 billion)

10. Central America and the Caribbean ($1.774 billion).

The volume of BRICS arms supplies to the Middle East arms market in 2013-2020 amounted, according to the CAMTO, to $25.697 billion. This represents 12.26% of the volume of exports of all VIVT suppliers to this market in the period under review ($209.616 billion).

At the same time, in the overall ranking of suppliers in this market, Russia ranks 3rd ($21.160 billion), China ranks 9th ($2.921 billion), Brazil ranks 18th ($802.5 million), South Africa ranks 19th ($723.9 million).

India is not present in the ranking of suppliers of VIVT to the Middle East market.

The volume of arms supplies from the BRICS countries to the arms market of the Asia-Pacific region in 2013-2020 amounted, according to CAMTO, to $59.218 billion. This represents 28.5% of the volume of exports of all VIVT suppliers to this market in the period under review ($207.788 billion).

At the same time, in the overall ranking of suppliers in this market, Russia ranks 2nd ($46.191 billion), China ranks 4th ($10.272 billion), Brazil ranks 12th ($1.896 billion), South Africa ranks 18th ($520.7 million), India ranks 21st (338.8 million dollars).

The volume of arms supplies from the BRICS countries to the arms market of Western Europe in 2013-2020 amounted, according to CAMTO, to $230.6 million. This represents 0.40% of the volume of exports of all VIVT suppliers to this market in the period under review ($57,090 billion).

In the overall ranking of suppliers in this market, South Africa ranks 16th ($148.3 million), Russia ranks 21st ($41.8 million), Brazil ranks 22nd ($30.5 million), China ranks 26th ($10 million).

India is not present in the ranking of suppliers of VIVT to the market of Western Europe.

The volume of BRICS arms supplies to the North African arms market in 2013-2020 amounted, according to CAMTO, to $16.470 billion. This represents 55.60% of the volume of exports of all VIVT suppliers to this market in the period under review ($29.624 billion).

At the same time, in the overall ranking of suppliers in this market, Russia ranks 1st ($14.257 billion), China ranks 4th ($2.022 billion), Brazil ranks 14th ($125 million), South Africa ranks 18th ($65.8 million).

India is not present in the ranking of suppliers of VIVT to the North African market.

The volume of arms supplies from the BRICS countries to the South American arms market (including Mexico) in 2013-2020 amounted, according to CAMTO, to $6.1 billion. This represents 24.44% of the volume of exports of all VIVT suppliers to this market in the period under review ($24.954 billion).

At the same time, in the overall ranking of suppliers to this market, Russia ranks 3rd ($3.996 billion), China ranks 4th ($2.004 billion), Brazil ranks 17th ($86.3 million), India ranks 24th ($13.5 million).

South Africa is not present in the ranking of VIVT suppliers to the South American market.

The volume of BRICS arms supplies to the North American arms market in 2013-2020 amounted, according to CAMTO, to $81 million. This represents 0.35% of the volume of exports of all VIVT suppliers to this market in the period under review ($22.790 billion).

Of the BRICS countries, only South Africa is present on the North American arms market ($81 million).

The volume of arms supplies from the BRICS countries to the arms market of countries in the post-Soviet space in 2013-2020 amounted, according to CAMTO, to $9.484 billion. This represents 49.16% of the volume of exports of all VIVT suppliers to this market in the period under review ($19.291 billion).

At the same time, in the overall ranking of suppliers, Russia ranks 1st ($7.639 billion), China ranks 3rd ($1.620 billion), South Africa ranks 13th ($225 million).

Brazil and India are not present in the ranking of suppliers of VIVT to the market of countries in the post-Soviet space.

The volume of BRICS arms supplies to the Eastern European arms market in 2013-2020 amounted, according to CAMTO, to $1.166 billion. This represents 10.5% of the volume of exports of all VIVT suppliers to this market in the period under review ($11.117 billion).

At the same time, in the overall ranking of suppliers, Russia ranks 5th ($ 939 million), China ranks 12th ($ 230 million).

Brazil, India and South Africa are not present in the ranking of VIVT suppliers to the South American market.

The volume of arms supplies from the BRICS countries to the arms market of the countries of "tropical" Africa (south of the Sahara Desert) in 2013-2020 amounted, according to CAMTO, to $4.028 billion. This represents 48.16% of the volume of exports of all VIVT suppliers to this market in the period under review ($8,364 billion).

At the same time, in the overall ranking of suppliers to this market, Russia ranks 1st ($1.937 billion), China ranks 2nd ($1.526 billion), South Africa ranks 8th ($233.5 million), Brazil ranks 10th ($210 million), India ranks 14th ($121.5 million dollars).

The volume of arms supplies from the BRICS countries to the arms market of Central America and the Caribbean in 2013-2020 amounted, according to CAMTO, to $479 million. This represents 27% of the volume of exports of all VIVT suppliers to this market in the period under review ($1.774 billion).

At the same time, in the overall ranking of suppliers to this market, Russia ranks 2nd ($ 443 million), China ranks 7th ($ 36 million).

Brazil, India and South Africa are not present in the rating of suppliers of VIVT to the market of the CAC countries.

In general, it can be stated that the BRICS countries have an overwhelming advantage over the G7 countries in three regional markets: North Africa (55.6%), countries in the post-Soviet space (49.16%) and "tropical" Africa (48.16%).

BRICS countries have strong positions in the Asia-Pacific arms market (28.5%), South American countries (24.44%) and CAC countries (27%).

The BRICS countries have a fairly serious presence in the markets of the Middle East (12.26%) and Eastern Europe (10.5%).

The presence of the BRICS countries in only two regional markets is very insignificant. These are the countries of North America and Western Europe.

In two regional markets (Asia-Pacific and "tropical" Africa"), the BRICS countries are present in full.

The BRICS countries have four representatives each in the markets of the Middle East, Western Europe, North Africa, and South America.

Three representatives each – in the market of countries in the post-Soviet space.

Two representatives each – in the markets of Eastern Europe and the CAC.

One representative of the BRICS countries is represented in the North American market.

Russia and China are present in 9 regions (out of 10), South Africa – in 7 regions, Brazil – in 6 regions and India – in 3 regions.
