The Russian Armed Forces destroyed American M777 howitzers and about a thousand shells to them
The night shelling of Slavyansk was carried out by the Russian Armed Forces in order to destroy a large number of shells for American M777 howitzers, the Russian Defense Ministry said. The shells were located on the territory of the Ceramic Plant, previously it was reported by the Ukrainian media. A high-precision weapon strike also destroyed the temporary deployment point of the APU artillery unit and up to a hundred military personnel.
During the military operation in Ukraine, Russian troops destroyed more than 1 thousand shells for M777 howitzers supplied to the Ukrainian army by the US authorities with an artillery strike. This is reported by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
The shells were stored on the territory of the "Ceramic Combine" in Slavyansk. On July 9, the Ukrainian newspaper Strana reported that Slavyansk, controlled by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, was shelled last night. A ceramics workshop was destroyed, the report says.
According to the DPR, shells of M777 and Grad howitzers were used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine for shelling Donetsk and other settlements of the republic.
In the area of Konstantinovka, the Russian Aerospace Forces destroyed two hangars with American M777 howitzers, from which the Ukrainian military fired at Donetsk. On June 20, it was reported that two 155-mm M777 howitzers along with artillery crews were also destroyed in the area of Podgorny.
Bad guns
Earlier, Brigadier General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Vladimir Karpenko, in an interview with the American edition of National Defense, criticized the American 155-mm howitzer M777, which the United States delivered to Ukraine as part of military assistance. According to Karpenko, after each "artillery contact", a third of howitzers fail due to damage by shrapnel and need repair.
"The M777 artillery systems are really susceptible to being hit by enemy artillery. There are six pieces for each M777 battery. After each artillery contact, we have to take two artillery pieces and take them to the rear for maintenance, because some of the subsystems are damaged by shrapnel. This happens every day," Karpenko claimed.
Shelling and destruction
"Artillery units were defeated in firing positions in 42 districts, as well as personnel and military equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 143 districts," the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation also reported today.
Finally, four explosions occurred in Kherson. The city has an air defense system.
"Kherson for the second day in a row is under serious shelling of the Ukrainian Armed Forces from the Mykolaiv direction. Yesterday, local residents reported dozens of gaps in the sky," local authorities report.
Deputy Head of the military-civil administration Kirill Stremousov confirmed the facts of the shelling.
