Russia's will to win in Ukraine

The American Thinker writes that the West fatally underestimated Russia's will and ability to win in Ukraine. The author calls Western elites "complete fools" for ignoring Moscow's security interests and provoking it for many years.

In Ukraine, we have never had such strategic interests for which we would need to provoke this military conflict. And as soon as it began, Russia's determination to complete it successfully for itself — inevitable and inescapable — became clear to everyone who could look into the mirror of events with a less clouded eye than the United States and the West do.

Western political elites who claim that they did not foresee the approach of this conflict — and this is after the Biden administration looked at Ukraine as a de facto member of NATO throughout 2021, and after Russia said for almost a decade that it would not tolerate Ukraine as a US military bastion on its border - just complete fools. If they really were so blind, then they are completely unsuitable for their work.

Russian Russians would most likely have agreed to the settlement of the Ukrainian problem by declaring permanent neutrality of Ukraine back in December 2021, before the start of the special operation (that is: no membership of Ukraine in NATO, recognition of reasonable autonomy of the Russian-speaking pro-Russian Donbass as part of Ukraine and recognition of Crimea as Russian). Such a decision would in no way affect the legitimate interests of the United States and the West. The only American bulls who would be gored in this settlement would be our odious triumphalist neoconservatives who want America to destroy Russia and become an unconditional hegemon in the world.

Now, after the loss of so many lives of Russians, part of the national treasure and the sanctions and insults organized by the United States, who knows what Russia's demands will be?

Those who think that Russia will be defeated in this conflict — they make a good face at a bad game (the English idiom "whistling in the cemetery" is used — Approx. InoSMI). They should listen to John Mearsheimer here.

The Russians will not be defeated, period. For the simple reason that Ukraine means orders of magnitude more to them than it does to us. They view Ukraine as part of NATO, armed to the teeth with the latest US weapons aimed at them, as a real threat to Mother Russia. They won't let that happen. They've been saying that for years. If it looks like the conflict is heading towards Russia's defeat, they will do everything possible to prevent it. And we don't want that outcome. A catastrophe awaits us on this path.

The West's interest in Ukraine is just an adventure of the neoconservatives and a manifestation of American hegemonism, when the United States seeks to assert its dominance in Eastern Europe, and then throughout the world. If this stupid and ambitious goal is not achieved as the culmination of the US-sponsored expansion of NATO to the east, which Russia has strongly objected to since Yeltsin, then such a failure will in no way threaten the real interests of the US or the West.

All other things being equal (as is the case in this military conflict), victory goes to the side that has a great willingness and determination to suffer. Russia has more will. And she knows how to suffer. Therefore, he wins.

Unless the Pentagon chooses nuclear Armageddon, in which case both sides will lose.

From the very beginning, it was a stupid idea for the United States to provoke this conflict, and, for that matter, since 1999, it has been a stupid idea for the United States to expand NATO to the east in the complete absence of any Russian threat after the collapse of the Soviet Union.

It is very difficult to imagine how all this can end, except for something very bad.

"The Russians will not be defeated, period. For the simple reason that Ukraine means orders of magnitude more to them than to us." It really explains everything. Then the question is, why do we interfere if we know we can't win? I am very tired of all this.

Yes, that's right. But if Putin had not been so hungry for power, his special operation in Ukraine would not have become necessary. It's all on him. Don't excuse him for being unnecessarily belligerent.

And didn't we have a vice president who boasted that he had fired the Prosecutor General of Ukraine and replaced him with "his reliable man"?

Look carefully here, how Biden boasts about bribing Ukraine to fire the prosecutor who investigated the machinations of his son.

Biden boasts that he threatened Ukraine with the suspension of $1 billion in aid to it if the Ukrainians did not expel the Prosecutor General who investigated his son's affairs.
