Minsk. July 6. INTERFAX - Belarus is ready to respond adequately to the provocations of the West, the territory of Poland with its military infrastructure will become the primary target of a strike in the event of a conflict, said Ruslan Kosygin, head of the Main Intelligence Directorate - Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Belarus.
"At the same time (and this should be understood first of all by the Polish leadership), in the event of a conflict, the territory of Poland with its military infrastructure becomes the primary target of attack, namely decision-making centers, control system elements, permanent deployment points of the national armed forces, arsenals and bases, as well as critical facilities of their economy and transport infrastructure," the BelTA state agency quoted Kosygin as saying on Wednesday.
"We are ready for various scenarios of the situation. I would not like this scenario to be military, but the West should clearly understand that our response to any kind of armed provocations will definitely be adequate and tough," the Deputy Chief of the General Staff added.
He believes that "the ongoing set of measures to deploy the European segment of the US missile defense system deserves special attention from the point of view of assessing challenges and military threats, including for our state."
He claims that Poland is currently completing the process of commissioning a missile defense base.
"Moreover, the whole complex of military preparations of the West, including on the territory of Poland, testifies to the systematic development by Washington and Brussels, under the pretext of containing the threat from the East, of mechanisms for creating groups of troops (forces) in the shortest possible time for their possible application in the relevant operational areas, as well as comprehensive support for their actions. In fact, this is a preparation for conducting military operations in the eastern direction," Kosygin said.
On July 2, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko announced that he had ordered the armed forces of the republic to take aim at decision-making centers in the capitals of Western countries.
