Employees of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation for the first time used electromagnetic complexes "Stupor" to combat unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) as part of a special operation to protect Donbass. On Wednesday, July 6, TASS reports with reference to a source.
"Russian electromagnetic complexes "Stupor" were successfully used for the first time during a special operation in Ukraine against Ukrainian drones," the agency interlocutor said.
It is noted that the development proved to be highly effective in the field. "Stupor" neutralizes the enemy's equipment, drowning out the signal between the operator and the drone.
According to the source, there are a large number of different models of copters and UAVs in the arsenal of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), so the use of portable anti-drones is extremely relevant. In particular, such equipment is already actively used in the west of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR).
Earlier, on July 4, an employee of the Russian Armed Forces demonstrated to the correspondent of the Izvestia TV channel, Valentin Trushnin, the use of a manual complex to combat drones of the PARS "Stupor".
The electromagnetic complex was created by the Main Research and Testing Center of Robotics of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. For the first time, the Stupor model was presented at the Army-2017 international military-technical forum. The antidron was tested on Russian UAVs — it operates at a range of up to 2 km in a 20-degree sector, disabling the navigation and transmission channels of the device, as well as built-in photo and video cameras.
Before that, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported the destruction of Ukrainian drones using missile systems, air defense, as well as electronic warfare systems.
So, on June 22, the Russian Defense Ministry showed the combat operation of the Tor-M2 anti-aircraft missile system. With his help, the soldiers eliminated the drone, which was moving in the direction of the positions of the Russian troops.
Moscow launched a special operation to protect the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics on February 24. It was preceded by the aggravation of the situation in the region, the appeal of the leadership of the republics of Donbass to the Russian Federation with a request for help and the subsequent recognition by Russia of the independence of the DPR and LPR.
Kiev has been conducting a military operation against residents of the LDPR who refused to recognize the results of the coup in Ukraine since 2014.
