The Bureau of Economic Security of Ukraine announced the facts of resale of weapons and humanitarian aid of the West

In Ukraine, military goods coming into the country from abroad are being sold, the Bureau of Economic Security reported. For money, individuals sell equipment intended for the Armed Forces and humanitarian aid. About ten criminal cases have been opened on the facts of resale. The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Denis Monastyrsky, earlier said that about 250 cases of embezzlement of humanitarian aid were being investigated in the country.

The Bureau of Economic Security of Ukraine has revealed repeated cases of the sale of humanitarian aid and military products. This was announced by the director of the bureau Vadim Melnik, the TV channel "Ukraine 24" reports.

"Even military goods are sold for cash. We have established such facts," the Ukrainian official said.

According to him, about a dozen criminal cases have been opened. The facts of resale are investigated if humanitarian aid and military equipment are sold for the purpose of obtaining commercial benefits.

At the same time, the number of such crimes is greater - other law enforcement agencies of Ukraine also note similar offenses.

The British newspaper The Telegraph also reports that medicines received by Ukraine for free are sold to the population in pharmacies. They do not reach the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the material says.

In total, about 80 cases of the sale of Western humanitarian aid have been recorded in Ukraine. At the same time, it is not sold at cost, but with a margin of 40%.

Problems with the distribution of military goods coming from Western countries have been noted before. At the end of June, American Andy Huhne, who came to fight in the AFU and was captured, told about the poor equipment of his unit.

According to him, most of the Western aid came in poor condition.

On June 22, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Denis Monastyrsky announced that about 250 criminal cases on the facts of embezzlement of humanitarian aid were being investigated in the country.

Most often, such crimes were recorded in Kiev and the Lviv region.

"There are individual scammers who take advantage of people's weakness or their helpless condition," the head of the Ukrainian Interior Ministry said.

He recalled that shortly after the outbreak of hostilities, the Verkhovna Rada introduced a special article 201-2 of the Criminal Code - "Illegal use of humanitarian aid, charitable donations or gratuitous aid for profit."

According to Monastyrsky, cars, fuel, medicines, bulletproof vests, food intended for the Ukrainian army are most often stolen.

Back in April, CNN reported on the theft of American humanitarian aid and weapons in Ukraine. The ex-commander of the special forces of the US Marine Corps, Colonel Andrew Milburn, who trains the Ukrainian military, was surprised at the time that warehouses in western Ukraine were packed with humanitarian aid, but in the east it was almost impossible to find it.

The logistics of transferring American weapons and other aid to the front is unreliable and poorly arranged, Milburn believes.

"I would say that the last thing the US government is now thinking about is that these weapons may fall into the wrong hands. Actually, the weapon really turns out to be in the wrong hands. But not because of any deliberate evil intentions," the publication quotes the American as saying ZN.UA .

According to the colonel, many supplies come to the west of Ukraine, where it is relatively safe - there is almost no shooting and warehouses are well guarded.

"You lose control of the logistics supply chain if you don't have your own people on the spot keeping records. There are no evil intentions. But there is no one who would like to take things from warehouses to military units at the front. A few days ago, 6 guys died at the usual collection point. They bled out due to the lack of turnstiles, the lack of individual first aid kits, due to the lack of training and equipment," he added.
