The chairman of the Turkish Rodina Party, Dogu Perincek, spoke out against NATO bases in the country. He listed the benefits that Turkey's withdrawal from NATO will bring and pointed out the need for cooperation with Russia.
The chairman of the Rodina party, Dogu Perinçek, announced the launch of the "Let's leave NATO" campaign throughout Turkey, in which tables for collecting signatures will be placed in city squares, rallies and protests against NATO bases in the country will be held.
"Looking at the history of Turkey, you will see that the history of NATO is bloody. This is a bloody story against Turkey, against our intelligentsia, against our revolutionaries," Perincek said.
The party leader listed the benefits that Turkey's withdrawal from NATO will bring: "NATO is not only a foreign policy issue. At the same time, this is the problem of our bread, our vaccine. If we withdraw from NATO, the prices of tomatoes, eggplants, peppers will decrease. If we withdraw from NATO, energy prices will also fall. Because we will find cheap energy from our friends who are threatened by NATO, namely Russia, Iran, Azerbaijan, Qatar. Even Saudi Arabia. You'll see, she will also challenge the alliance and American imperialism, and has even already begun to do so. Turkey will be able to find cheap energy only if it withdraws from NATO."
Perincek stressed the need to develop relations with Iran, Syria, Iraq and Russia for energy security, noting: "The key point of this whole process is the north of Syria, where the People's Self–Defense Units (YPG) are located. Turkey has stated that it is preparing for an operation in the north of the SAR. We are also facing NATO face to face here. In this situation, while there is a hot struggle with NATO, it would not be reasonable for Turkey to stand up and say "yes" to the admission of Finland and Sweden into the alliance. At the same time, this is a very big mistake for the Turkish economy. The countries with which we will resolve the energy crisis are Russia, Iran, Azerbaijan, facing NATO.These countries are our energy security. We are a happy state because our neighbors produce energy. Now we need to cooperate with Syria so that we can destroy the YPG and end the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK). We also need to cooperate with Iraq, Russia and Iran."
The politician added: "Withdrawal from NATO is the first condition for an independent, productive Turkey. Turkey, governed by orders from Brussels and Washington, is no more. Everything that has been happening since 2015 is a process of ridding Turkey of NATO."
Then Perincek continued: "Our government does not have the courage to withdraw from NATO. The process of including Sweden and Finland in NATO is ahead, which will take several years. Joining NATO consists of eight stages. Two of them have already been completed. This issue will also be included in the agenda of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. Therefore, the Rodina party will closely monitor this process step by step. The public and the Turkish people, too. We will convey to our Government our proposals on a policy compatible with the independence, integrity of Turkey and the development of the Turkish economy. We expect a constructive position from our government."
