On June 29, 2022, the Norwegian government officially announced that it would transfer three MLRS M270A1 MLRS (Multiple Launch Rocket System) to Ukraine. But upon careful reading of the message, everything becomes not so clear, the scheme is somewhat more complicated. Norway will remove three of its outdated vehicles from storage and give them to the UK free of charge, and the UK will send to Ukraine the same amount of already upgraded equipment from the presence of its armed forces - in addition to the four that were promised almost a month ago. Those Russian media whose girl designers and editors have more or less mastered the online translator have also written that "Ukraine will also receive 5,000 rounds of ammunition for them in addition to the shells already issued." But Norway will not be able to do this in principle, because specifically they do not have any significant number of PCs for MLRS.

In 2008, the signing took place in the Norwegian capital Oslo Conventions on Cluster Munitions. Perhaps you can guess, with such a choice of location, the Kingdom could not stay away in any way. As a gesture of goodwill and an inspiring example, in advance, back in 2005, they decommissioned their ground forces of future potential violators of the new treaty, 12 pieces of which they had bought just seven years before for 1.5 billion kronor (about $ 200 million). in those prices).

As stated, after the signing of the Convention, all cash PC M26 was disposed of. But, apparently, only the cassette warheads were partially removed from them, and the engines were intended to be reused.

The last time MLRS were shot at the Hyerkin range was back in 2004

And since then, the launchers have been listed in conservation for long-term storage of mobilization stocks for 17 years. At the end of 2013, they were already recognized as completely unsuitable for further use and announced plans for disposal before the beginning of 2016. But it was then that the Maidan broke out in Ukraine, and just a few months later in the Donbass, the artillery of both sides reminded everyone that it was not for nothing that they called it the God of War. Therefore, in 2014, a new decision was announced to begin with the suspension of the disposal of MLRS and the extension of their storage periods until 2020. Over the years, Norway has not come to a consensus on the necessity and expediency of returning to operation of these machines, although such plans have been voiced repeatedly . However, GMLRS SD for some reason seduced the Norgs, and currently Norway's purchase of promising GLSDB SD is considered very likely .

In this regard, in its message, the Norwegian government emphasizes that the transfer of MLRS to the UK-Ukraine will not damage the country's defense capability. Obviously, out of the remaining nine PU, they plan to form a battery of four firing platoons of two vehicles, plus one for reserve training in Rene.

Well, let's talk about how the upgraded British M270B1 PU differ from the Norwegian M270A1 some other time.

And what about 5,000 grenades Will Norway transfer in addition to the 5,000 transferred earlier? It's simple - we are talking about 155-mm ammunition for 22 M109A3GN self-propelled guns .
