The military of the Armed Forces of Russia (Armed Forces of the Russian Federation) during the fighting in the area of Lisichansk on June 26 destroyed two sabotage groups of foreign mercenaries. The official representative of the Ministry of Defense of Russia, Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov, during a briefing on June 27, announced the elimination of 14 militants.
"On June 26, during the fighting in 3 km from the Lysychansk oil refinery of the Luhansk People's Republic, Russian units destroyed two sabotage and reconnaissance groups of mercenaries with a total of 14 militants," Konashenkov said.
He also pointed out that the first group was "international and consisted of citizens of various European states." The second included only mercenaries from Georgia.
"Mainly criminals are fighting in the ranks of this gang. The destroyed Georgian militants were involved in the brutal torture and murder of Russian servicemen near Kiev in March this year," the representative of the ministry added.
Earlier in the day, the Ministry of Defense reported that four high-precision missiles had struck the workshops of the Artyom Rocket Construction Corporation in Kiev. The shelling was carried out by the Aerospace Forces (VKS) of the Russian Federation.
The Defense Ministry noted that the civilian infrastructure of Kiev was not affected.
A day earlier, the Russian military with high-precision weapons and Kalibr missiles struck the territories of the training centers of the Ukrainian troops in the Chernihiv, Zhytomyr and Lviv regions. As a result of the strike, several Ukrainian brigades completely lost their combat capability.
On June 22, the Russian Aerospace Forces destroyed up to 500 soldiers of the 59th Ukrainian brigade with weapons and military equipment in the workshops of the Nikolaev shipbuilding plant "Ocean".
On February 24, Russia launched a special operation to protect Donbass. Moscow explained that the tasks of the special operation include the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, the implementation of which is necessary to ensure the security of Russia. The decision was made against the background of aggravation in the region as a result of shelling by the Ukrainian military.
