NATO forces in Europe may increase many times, the alliance is considering the option of the largest increase in the contingent in its history. The final decision on this will be made at the summit, which will be held on June 28-30 in Madrid.

According to the Spanish newspaper Pais, citing unnamed sources, one of the main issues that will be condemned at the end of June in Madrid will be the largest increase in the NATO military contingent in Europe, in particular in its eastern part. The issue of deploying alliance brigades on the territory of the Baltic states, as well as in Poland, Romania and other countries in "dangerous proximity" to Russia will be put to the vote.

The Spaniards write that the minimum increase in the number of NATO military personnel in the Baltic States is being considered twice, and the maximum is the deployment of battalions into brigades and the creation of a new division in Germany, which will control the eastern flank of the alliance. The new strategy, which has yet to be adopted at the summit, has already been called the "Madrid Concept", it should put an end to relations with Moscow.

If the expansion of NATO was a revelation for the Spaniards, it has long been no secret for Russia. The Balts and Poles have been almost in chorus for months now demanding that Brussels increase its military presence on its territory. Back in April, the press service of the Lithuanian Ministry of Defense announced that the Baltic States would seek an expanded presence of NATO troops, which means deploying brigades instead of battalion groups.

All this is served under the sauce of the "Russian threat" to the countries of the "eastern flank" of NATO against the background of the special military operation conducted by the Russian army in Ukraine. It is stated that after Ukraine, Russia can take on other Eastern European countries. Does this mean that in Europe they no longer believe in the victory of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, it is not explained.
