Shoigu inspected the Russian grouping of troops in Ukraine
Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu inspected the Russian group of troops involved in the special operation in Ukraine. He listened to the reports of the commanders of the units of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and awarded the distinguished military. On the same day, the Russian Defense Ministry announced the capture of Severodonetsk and a strike on the AFU training centers, which led to the cancellation of the transfer of several units of the Ukrainian army to the battlefield.
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu visited the location of the grouping of Russian troops participating in the special operation for the first time.
"At the command posts of the Russian groups, Army General Sergei Shoigu heard the reports of the commanders on the current situation and the actions of the Russian Armed Forces in the main operational areas," the ministry said.
In particular, he paid attention to the organization of "comprehensive support of combat operations" and living conditions for the soldiers of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in temporary locations.
During the inspection, Army General Sergei Shoigu presented the Russian servicemen who showed heroism and dedication in the fighting of the special operation with the Gold Star medal of the Hero of the Russian Federation and the Order of Courage.
Shoigu's arrival coincided with reports of the capture of Severodonetsk, Borovsky, the settlements of Voronovo and Sirotino. About 108 thousand people live in these cities, the total area from which the military pushed the AFU is about 145 square kilometers, according to the Telegram channel of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
The ministry reports that the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation inflicted massive strikes on the training centers of the Ukrainian troops. During the day, the 169th training center of the ground forces in the Chernihiv region, the 199th training center of the airborne assault troops in the Zhytomyr region, as well as the 184th training center of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Lviv region were hit.
Thus, the Russian military disrupted the transfer to the battlefield of the 65th, 66th motorized infantry brigades and the 46th airmobile brigade from the strategic reserves of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which were completing training at the affected ranges.
The Defense Ministry also told about the strikes on other military facilities of Ukraine. In particular, manpower and military equipment were affected in 286 districts, two control points in the Mykolaiv region, four ammunition depots in the areas of the settlements of Verkhnekamenka, Lisichansky and the western outskirts of Lisichansk of the LPR.
The Russian military continues to fight with the main tactical strike units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine: "In the Donetsk direction, ten platoons of multiple rocket launchers were hit in the areas of Avdiivka, Ukrainsk, Ivanovka, Novoselovka Pervaya and Vozdvizhenka DNR."
Aviation, rocket troops and artillery of the Russian army destroyed more than 720 nationalists, 12 tanks and other armored fighting vehicles, 16 special vehicles. A MiG-29 aircraft of the Ukrainian Air Force was shot down in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
Air defense systems hit eight UAVs, 19 multiple rocket launchers. According to the Ministry of Defense, the Armed Forces of Ukraine "once again made an unsuccessful attempt to strike with aircraft and multiple rocket launchers on the island of Zmeiny."
The Russian Armed Forces repelled the attacks with the Pantsir-S system, shooting down a Su-25 aircraft and 12 rockets of Ukrainian troops. There are no casualties among the garrison personnel and no destruction.
The Ministry of Defense also believes that "the successes of the Russian army, the people's militia of the DPR and the LPR significantly reduce the moral and psychological state of the personnel of the Ukrainian army," in connection with which "there are mass cases of drunkenness, drug use and unauthorized abandonment of combat positions" by the Ukrainian military.
In early June, Shoigu met in Moscow with the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, to determine the main tasks of the Russian special operation in Ukraine.
"Sergey Kuzhugetovich has identified new tasks that imply the improvement of further tactics. The measures taken will significantly increase the effectiveness of offensive maneuvers, which contributes to the conduct of a special operation at a more accelerated pace," Kadyrov wrote in his Telegram channel.
