The servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine told the Canadian correspondent about the betrayal of the Ukrainian authorities

The Ukrainian authorities "betrayed" the Ukrainian Armed Forces, leaving their soldiers to die in the Donbass, a Canadian journalist said. At the same time, he said that most of the Ukrainian troops had not seen Western weapons and equipment. At the same time, the military from the Lviv Theroborona battalion refused to go to the front. However, the head of the Ukrainian military intelligence believes that in August "a turning point will happen."

Stupidity or treason?

Neil Hauer, a reporter for the Canadian CBC News channel, said that Kiev "betrayed the servicemen of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, leaving them to die in the Donbass."

"They feel betrayed by their leadership. They were left to die in hopeless conditions," the journalist writes. Hauer noted that according to a number of Ukrainian military, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have not seen anything of the equipment or weapons supplied by the United States, Canada and EU countries.

"We only have our rifles. Maybe one or two hand-held anti-tank grenade launchers against armored vehicles. How should I fight with these weapons?", - the journalist quotes the words of one of the Ukrainian soldiers.

According to the Canadian reporter, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine ignored a request to comment on statements from some soldiers that some units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have not received Western weapons and equipment.

The Ministry of Defense states

The Russian Ministry of Defense, in turn, drew attention to the fact that the territorial defense battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from Lviv allegedly refused to leave for a combat mission in the Donbass.

"The personnel of the 64th battalion of the 103rd Territorial Defense Brigade stationed in Lviv refused to leave for the combat area in the Donbass due to the staffing of untrained reservists and the lack of heavy weapons," said the representative of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov.

On the eve of the military Department of the Russian Federation issued a press release in which it announced mass cases of desertion of the Ukrainian military. One of the last such incidents occurred near the settlement of Alexandropol, where more than 30 servicemen of the 25th brigade of the Ukrainian Airborne Forces voluntarily left their positions, throwing their weapons.

On June 22, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that the soldiers of the 57th Motorized Infantry Brigade, which held positions near Gorsky, refused to follow orders after the death or injury of more than 60% of the personnel.

According to the ministry's statement, the Ukrainian command is forced to form separate rifle battalions from mobilized Ukrainians, practically untrained, to make up for losses.

It is worth noting that the Ukrainian media regularly issue statements of the opposite nature, which also do not find confirmation from the other side.

Zrada chi peremoga?

Against this background, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov, said on the air of the ITV channel that in August 2022 there will be a "turning point" at the front.

"Ukraine will return to its 1991 borders, there will be no other scenarios and we are not considering any other scenarios. Starting in August, certain events will take place that will demonstrate to the whole world that a turning point has come," the Ukrainian military commander said.

According to Budanov, the retreat of the Ukrainian Armed Forces from Severodonetsk (now the city has come under the control of Russian troops) is a "tactical regrouping" that is taking place throughout Ukraine as a whole.

"We are successfully counterattacking on certain sections of the front line, and successfully defending on certain sections of the front line," the head of Ukrainian military intelligence added.

"I have already said and I will repeat it again - by the end of the year, active hostilities will almost come to naught. We are adamant in our opinion. In the foreseeable future, we will regain control over our territories," he concluded.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has also not previously ruled out the possibility of a turning point in the military conflict in Ukraine. However, for this, he noted, the West should send more weapons to the Ukrainian troops.
