Yerevan. June 18. INTERFAX - The settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict was discussed at a meeting on Saturday by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Karen Donfried.
"The parties discussed the processes taking place in the South Caucasus, the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the activities of the commission between Armenia and Azerbaijan on the delimitation and security of borders," the government's press service reports.
It is noted that Pashinyan stated the importance of strengthening stability and peace in the region, "stressed the need for a proportionate reaction of the international community to provocative statements and actions that violate regional stability."
"The Prime Minister of Armenia stressed the key role of the United States as a co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group (on the Karabakh settlement), stated the importance of a comprehensive settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship," the government noted.
In addition, Pashinyan noted the importance of the development and expansion of Armenian-American relations, "highly appreciated the assistance of the United States to the effective promotion of democratic reforms in Armenia."
For her part, Donfrid stated that the US government attaches importance to expanding and strengthening cooperation with Armenia in various areas, and the promotion of democratic institutions in Armenia will be of a long-term nature.
