Saint-Petersburg. June 18. INTERFAX - The transfer of Soviet and Russian-made military equipment to Ukraine is a violation of international obligations, Russia will destroy this equipment even before entering the combat zone, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov said.
"These countries brazenly violate all international obligations, because the supply of weapons usually provides for a ban on the transfer of this equipment to a third party," Borisov told Interfax on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
"NATO countries are literally vacuuming from all over Europe, what else did we supply to the Warsaw Pact countries in Soviet times - various weapons are assembled, repaired, transferred to the APU, spare parts too. What to do about it? We will live, we will fight, we will destroy this equipment even before entering into combat contacts," he said.
On February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree recognizing the independence of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics. On February 24, he announced the start of a special military operation in Ukraine. The West responded to Russia with large-scale sanctions and began to help Ukraine with finances and weapons.
As reported, Kiev has received Soviet-made weapons in recent months. Thus, according to media reports, Ukraine received a batch of Su-25 attack aircraft and Mi-17 multi-purpose helicopters from Eastern Europe. Slovak Prime Minister Edward Heger reported on the delivery of S-300 air defense systems to Kiev.
