Arahamia: APU lose up to 1 thousand fighters a day in Donbass
Every day, the Ukrainian military lose from 200 to 500 people killed in the Donbass, says the head of the faction of the ruling Servant of the People party, the head of the delegation to the negotiations with Russia, David Arahamia. However, the main problem of Kiev is the lack of weapons and ammunition. According to Arakhamiya, there is "no place" for negotiations with Moscow yet.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine lose up to 1 thousand people killed and wounded per day in the Donbass. This was told by the head of the "Servant of the People" faction David Arahamiya during a visit to Washington. The parliamentarian spoke at a round table organized by the German Marshall Fund, the Axios portal reports.
He noted that the losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have increased significantly over the past two weeks.
"Ukraine has mobilized a million people and can mobilize two million more," the Axios portal reports Arahamiya's words.
The main problem for Kiev
According to him, the main problem is the lack of weapons and ammunition. "We have people trained to attack, counterattack, but we need weapons for this," the parliamentarian said.
According to Axios, Arahamiya arrived in Washington to discuss with the US authorities the possibility of increasing the pace of arms supplies to Kiev. The US Congress previously approved the allocation of $40 billion to help Ukraine. However, these funds are very slowly turning into real arms supplies, says the head of the "Servant of the People" faction.
He added that Kiev's partners, especially in Europe, are beginning to focus on replenishing their own stocks, and not on transferring weapons and equipment to Ukraine.
"There is no place for negotiations"
Arahamiya, who led the delegation at the talks with Russia, admitted that Kiev's position "is actually quite weak."
The parliamentarian said that official negotiations are frozen, but the Ukrainian side communicates with representatives of Moscow 1-2 times a week, although both sides "clearly realize that there is no place for negotiations now." Despite this, the current situation must be resolved through compromise, Arahamiya concluded.
Other estimates of APU losses
According to Washington's estimates, the daily losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine amount to about 100 people killed, and about 100-300 wounded. Such data was given the day before by the head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US Armed Forces, Mark Milli.
On June 10, the adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine, Mikhail Podolyak, said that 100 to 200 Ukrainian soldiers die every day during the fighting. He made his statement in the context of a shortage of weapons and a call for the West to supply Ukraine with "hundreds of artillery systems." According to him, in particular, the APU requires up to 300 multiple rocket launchers.
On June 9, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov informed that the daily losses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on average amount to 100 people killed and up to 500 wounded. He stated that the situation at the front is difficult.
On June 8, the official representative of the Russian Defense Ministry, Igor Konashenkov, said that Ukrainian troops in the Donbas were suffering "significant losses in manpower, weapons and military equipment." According to him, during the fighting in Svyatogorsk in the DPR, the Ukrainian side lost more than 300 people, 15 armored fighting vehicles, 36 field artillery guns and mortars, four installations of the Grad multiple rocket launcher system and more than 20 units of automotive equipment.
The last time official information about the losses of the Russian Armed Forces in Ukraine was published on March 25. Then it was reported that during the first month of the special military operation, 1,351 Russian servicemen were killed and 3,825 wounded.
