The United States is preparing a new package of military assistance for Ukraine, which, with a high degree of probability, will include Harpoon anti-ship missiles. This is reported by Bloomberg.
According to the publication, citing its own sources, Washington is preparing a new package of military assistance to Kiev for $ 650 million, which, among other things, may include Harpoon anti-ship missiles. Details of the delivery are not given, as it has not yet been officially announced.
It is worth noting that this news caused joy in Kiev, which has long been begging the United States for anti-ship missiles to "protect" the Black Sea coast from Russian ships. Zelensky's entourage has repeatedly stated about a possible Russian amphibious assault on Odessa and the need to supply weapons capable of repelling it.
At the end of May, the head of the Pentagon, Lloyd Austin, announced the delivery of an unnamed number of Harpoon missile defense systems from the presence of the Danish Armed Forces and one ground-based launcher for them. Already in June, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Reznikov said that Kiev had received these missiles, but did not give any details.
By the way, the third meeting of the contact group on Ukraine was held in Brussels today, where a number of decisions were made on arms supplies to Kiev. As stated by the American Defense Minister Lloyd Austin, it is "impossible" to stop the supply of weapons to Ukraine, otherwise Russia will win.
