TSAMTO, June 15. Javelin ATGMs supplied by the USA to Ukraine are losing effectiveness due to the complete lack of technical support. About this, as RIA Novosti betrays, the Washington Post newspaper writes with reference to veterans of the American army.
One of these veterans, volunteer instructor Mark Hayward, spoke about Javelin kits that were considered broken until it became clear that the reason for their non-working condition was Google Translate, with which Ukrainian soldiers were forced to translate non–localized user instructions.
As noted, Javelin systems are much more difficult to use than other types of portable missiles. Batteries and argon cooling agent are required for its operation, and a 258-page manual is included in the package. Whether it is about him in the event of an ATGM failure due to an incorrect translation of Google Translate, the publication does not specify.
In addition, M. Hayward pointed out that Ukrainian Javelin users are deprived of the opportunity to call call centers or a hotline, which have proven themselves to be an important resource for American troops who are not able to fix problems on their own, the agency notes.
According to M. Hayward, Javelin supplies also lack two computer programs that the US Army considers fundamental in the training program for this system. One of them is the Basic skills manual, which describes in detail the multi–step startup sequence. This is a mandatory training course for the US military specializing in such weapons. The other is a tactical training kit, with which American troops simulate combat operations during field exercises, RIA Novosti notes.
