Some time ago, Mikhail Podolyak, an adviser in the office of the President of Ukraine Zelensky, made a statement about how many foreign weapons Ukraine needs "to defeat Russia." Recall that Podolyak "demanded" the provision of 1,000 American-made howitzers, 300 MLRS and at least 500 tanks. If the West supplies Ukraine with such a number of weapons, then, according to the Ukrainian official, the AFU "will be able to launch a counteroffensive."
The West decided to respond to these appeals of Podolyak through the major media. So, the material with the analysis of the Ukrainian request appeared in the British The Guardian.
British journalists point out that Kiev's "requests" for arms supplies are "hardly realistic."
From the material:
The Guardian writes that Ukraine is requesting 1,000 American howitzers, but today there are no more than a thousand of them in the United States itself. It turns out that in order to satisfy the Ukrainian request, Washington must completely empty all its arsenals on the M777.
The only request that could theoretically be satisfied is 500 tanks. The United States has about 2,700 of them "on the move", and about 3,500 more in storage.
But there is a problem here too. We will have to teach at least 500 Ukrainian crews to handle American and other NATO tanks, and this is a colossal job, including time-consuming.
