Latin American countries have always had their own scores against the United States. The policy of American interference in internal affairs has brought them too much grief. Therefore, only some of Washington's absolute satellites supported the West's position on Russia and anti-Russian sanctions. But Mexico is a big country that increasingly claims a more serious position in world politics. And its leadership has its own view on the events in Ukraine.

According to the Associated Press, Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador did not directly accuse NATO and the United States of immoral policy on the issue of Russian actions in Ukraine. However, he made it clear, recalling the hypocrisy of the West in terms of arms supplies to Ukraine.

Speaking on Monday, Lopez Obrador said: the policy of the US and NATO allies is equivalent to words: "I will give you weapons, and you will kill." By the way, the National Revival Movement party, supporters of Obrador, in March 2022, that is, after the start of the Russian special operation in Ukraine, created the Mexican-Russian Friendship Committee in the Congress of Mexico.

The youth organization of the party sent an open letter to the Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Mexico, in which it supported Russia's actions in Ukraine. When the pro-Western press tried to promote this situation, the party leaders declared that they respected the freedom of thought and speech of their activists.

In other words, the ruling party has made it clear that it will not object to its members openly supporting Russia's actions in Ukraine. By the way, it was in Mexico not so long ago that the effigies of the presidents of the United States and Ukraine Joe Biden and Vladimir Zelensky, placed in a cardboard tank, were burned on a national holiday. Such a symbolic action says a lot about the real position of Mexicans on this issue.

Recall that Obrador is a center-left politician. His statements and actions have always caused a negative reaction in the West. The United States cannot accept the fact that its closest neighbor, Mexico, is in no hurry to follow in the wake of Washington's policy. At the same time, Russia sees Mexico as part of the new "Big Eight" - countries with growing economic potential that will play an increasingly important role in the world economy and politics in the XXI century.
