Special forces units of the Russian army in the future may receive a new amphibious buggy, specially designed for use in difficult terrain. Information about the new development is posted on the Rospatent website.
According to the documentation, the development was presented by specialists of the Combined arms Academy of the Armed Forces of Russia. It is a 6X6 all-terrain vehicle for traveling through difficult terrain. The car can move through mud and snow, overcome water obstacles by swimming. The declared mass of the amphibian is 1.2 tons, the speed on the highway is 120 km/ h, on the water - 12 km/ h.
Instead of the front wheel in winter conditions, you can install skis on the rear wheels of the caterpillar. The vehicle is designed to carry four people in full combat gear, it is planned to install two machine guns, one of which is large-caliber.

As the developers explained, the current models do not meet all the requirements for such equipment, they are quite large and do not have sufficient mobility, speed and maneuvering. In the new model, these shortcomings are eliminated, it is smaller, at the same time has increased cross-country ability and even floats.

In December last year, the Ministry of Defense decided to create units equipped with ultralight buggies as part of the Airborne Forces, Marines and Ground Forces. It was reported that the issue of the organizational and staff structure of the new units, which will be equipped with ultralight SUVs of the "buggy" type, is being worked out.
